FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Oh wow. They have been rather free with their replacements but so they should really. That's not good. You're spending a lot of money if it's faulty surely they should refund?

I have called so many times :( Last lady was very honest and said they never expected so many issues and some people just constantly claim replacements and haven't purchased any so now they're testing faulty sensors before sending the replacement.... I thought if there was that much of a problem/backlog then it would be affecting others here too

I spoke to them last week and they said they'd send me a new sensor along with the packaging to return my bad sensor.

This is the second replacement I have requested (previous one was sent with return packaging) when I called they asked if it was first replacement request, when I said it was the second they said they needed it back first, which I did straight away and tracked the parcel so I know they received it.

I understand some people may be trying it a bit but they can see from my account I am a continuous user who has already spent over £500 with them!

This is also my second and I've spent, I guess £440 so far. They didn't ask if I had returned any before.

Interestingly, I got a letter dated 31 Dec saying they'd not received my first bad sensor which I sent them on Dec 8th. I wonder if there's a backlog somewhere.

Guess I was unlucky with the person who took my call then ... Although everyone on the follow up calls has said they can't send replacement until they have internal confirmation the bad sensor has been tested.

I do currently have enough spare sensors but that is completely not the point. It makes me so angry!!! I worry about arguing too much with them incase they block my account! I am hooked

Its hardly a vote of confidence that so many people are experiencing problems with the sensors :(

Why are they failing?

(I am on sensor no 7) sensor 2 came off after 2 days.. I got home from the gym and it literally hung off my arm - think the sweat affected the sticky.
Sensor 4 came off after 3 days.. I was getting changed so think my top must of caught it

I have had 2 sensors out of 6 that have been erratic. Sometimes reading close to BGs but other times up to 2 mmol/l high - not good when a bit hypo.

The other 4 sensors were good and I was happy to not fingerstick except for a random check every other day or so.

Thanks daniT, so it's mainly just adhesive problems, hope they get it sorted soon.

Yes I wouldn't want to antagonise them too much

There are also some folks with bad skin reactions, some get dead sensors after a couple days, some with bad readers. It's a bit of a lottery although Abbott appear to be trying to replace bad stuff.

I suppose it pays to keep an eye on things Rob and do regular bg checks, much like any new product there's always go to be teething problems.

Yes mine were ... Although I haven't done any detailed checks - I was happy to get away from finger pricks and use the libre for the trend data so can't say whether they've all been 100% accurate but good enough for me

@noblehead we did a bit of a poll on Facebook a while ago and it was coming out at about a 20-25% failure rate. Not a scientific poll at all but I was surprised how many people have had duffs. I myself have had 2 faulty ones

Thank you, it may not be scientific but 20-25% is quite high, hope Abbott are taking on board the feedback from you guys with a view to changing things and improving the product.

I think it's probably why you can't currently buy it

Hopefully so, I'm sure they will want to get things right as it will be a costly business replacing all these sensors.

It's certainly frustrating. What's also annoying is the difference between sensors. Most of mine have been pretty good with hypos, as long as they were at the right velocity, in other words, by the time you felt it the scan was showing it or almost showing it. When you have a fast hypo, it is useless for checking as the twenty minutes delay can show an okay blood sugar (sometimes with a flat arrow indicating slow change) and you really can't see it as mentioned by Emmotha and smidge. For hypos, these things are pretty close to useless and you need to rely on your hypos symptoms and blood testing only.

In my opinion, the real use for these things is to understand the way your bg levels change in response to stimuli. I've said that from early on using it and my opinion hasn't changed. If you want accurate point values it's not worth getting the device and paying the money. If you need to understand how you respond to all your inputs it's very helpful, even when the sensor is reading 2mmol away from where it should be.

The problem is that you come to rely on it as being accurate when it is delayed data and too late to react to. For this reason alone I think care needs to be taken in its use.
