i don,t know if its the cold weather but i,m hungry at night and finging it hard not to gorge on sweet things
i,m finding that i,m eating sooner between meals then i should. which results in being hungrier at night

Are you eating enough fat Ally?

What times do you have your 3 meals Ally? I know you eat earlier than I do for all 3 meals as you post your 2 hour result before I have taken my before reading!

Are there sweet things in your house? Tut tut ;) How about a decaf coffee with double cream? They are sweet, satisfying, and carb-free.

As Sanguine says, do you eat enough fat? Or do you eat proper, filling meals at all?

But I know your recent loss can cause the kind of emotional eating that is hard to curb. Stay strong and have a piece of cheese or so, non-carby of course.

Do you like pork scratchings or cheese? These are ok as evening snacks...or just 2sq of dark 70% above chocolate

Personally I love cucumber and although I have dark choc in fridge and walnuts etc I find it lovely to have plain cucumber snacks with a little salt rather than anything else..

It is normally habit and boredom that starts the cravings for carbs in evenings.....

I totally agree with Totto try to go for non-carby snacks. I'm not surprised you feel like snacking at the moment, I've done the emotional eating too. Just do your best to stick to good snacks. I'm still very impressed by how far you've come. :)

Like to snack on porkies, cheese, olives, peanuts or cashews, ryvita with peanut butter & cheese. Not all at the same time ofcause but some mix well, like the cheese & olives of even afew grapes.

I sometime have a few almonds , cheese and a oat biscuit ..... Keeps me going ....
70% chocolate a few squares has always been a favourite with members before ..

Interestingly I have found that drinking the coffee without any artificial sweetener fends off hunger.

As others have said try cubes of cheese,(babybels are great for this) , celery is lovely with a bit of pate or cream cheese, or nibble on few pickled onions. I have my evening meal about 6 ish- probably too late to avoid a bit of a rise in my fasting from the protein but it stops me nibbling all evening before bed. I have a cup of decaff with lactofree at bedtime with a sq dark choc, or few peanuts or sometimes if I've had few carbs earlier, half an apple. Ideally we need to get out of the snacking habit as I think it just encourages us to eat way too much and our liver and pancreas never get a rest!

Don't beat yourself up about snacking for now, just try to keep to carb free snacks in the evening as far as possible and make sure your meals are satisfying enough for you. It's very hard to come to terms with any bereavement and you are doing so well with this in all respects.

All the best Ally

Well good for you. It's not that easy for some of us. Ally has been doing brilliantly, there's a few on this forum that could do with taking a leaf out of her book. Some don't even try. Maybe the answer won't be found on this forum but there's no reason why we can't support ally.

11 counselling sessions on and I still haven't managed to find the answers.......I do hope people won't judge me so harshly.

Try and keep posts positive here .
Negativity is road to nowhere .

Ally has just lost her brother very recently in a traumatic situation .
Sensitivity is primary needed here .

Ally has done fantastically well and I certainly took her posting in that vain, as do others that have backed Ally all the way.

If you look at CBT or any diet etc you need SUPPORT.... that is why people go to WW and other slimming clubs.

Your negativity is insensitive and down right wrong.

In fact if you read Allys post.... It says "finding it hard not to gorge"..... This is NOT a statement to say that Ally is stuffing herself stupid....

Support from others is the most vauable aid in life. You learn from a child that your parents support you...and your siblings and friends. When friends don't support that is whenthey lose their friendship and people feel hurt etc.

Support from people is vitally important to humans. Not a kicking when you are down. You need someone to offer you a helping hand up..
