Cauli bhaji! Please supply recepe. I looked at onion bhaji in the supermarket yesterday and put back because I thought carbs were too high

D. Sausages, peas, butternut squash and cauli mash, fried egg. Bgmpist 2hr 7.8

Breakfast: Yogurt and berries
Lunch : Last night I had sweet potato cheesy mash and bg looked ok, so I used the rest today to make tuna fishcakes for lunch with home made tartar sauce :)
Dinner: Quorn steaks with lots of veg and a tahini sauce. Still hungry though...
 
B - peanut 9bar
L - poached salmon salad with cheese coleslaw
D - 2 x 97% pork sausages, 1 x bacon, poached egg, mushrooms and grilled Tomatoe followed by strawberries and cream
 
It's something my brother told me about - hang on, I'll get the bag and tell you what's in it... :) It's from BodyMe, contains organic New Zealand wheatgrass, barley grass, chlorella and spirulina... I feel so much better when I take it every day... I put it in my green smoothie with cinnamon, turmeric and fenugreek... but I like all that stuff - someone else might be sick at the taste - and it looks like pond-weed... :) Today I am having spinach, watercress, a small avocado, goat's yoghurt, all the powders above and a handful of blueberries... I might put a small amount of banana for the potassium too... :) I am having scrambled egg and bacon mid-morning and slow-roasting a big piece of belly-pork for dinner later.. my son and my little granddaughter (in the picture) are coming over for a few days so she will have some crackling... :) I just cannot believe how many years I have denied myself crackling... I will probably snack on fresh fig and goat's cheese at some point... I bought four small figs and won't waste them... I need to check how many carbs in them really...


I'm saving up for a nutribullet - love the sound of your smoothies!
 
B: Green tea and lemon, 2 slices stracciatella cake:rolleyes:, bullet coffee
L: Steamed greens, tin of mackerel and feta. Sugar free jelly.
T: Vegetable stirfry, cauli rice, cashew nuts and baked salmon. Bar of 85% dark chocolate
Snacks: Feta and pickled onions, slice of stracciatella cake:rolleyes:
Drinks: tea with semi skim milk and sugar free ginger ale
 
Today I had... two espresso with cream... green smoothie with spinach and watercress, goat's yoghurt, handful of blueberries, cinnamon, super greens, two brazil nuts and fenugreek, topped up with pure coconut water... then went out with my sister and mother to my brother's house he's building... then to lunch - seared scallops with butter and chive sauce, tiny green beans and pancetta pieces; monkfish tail with mixed buttered 'good' veg, a forkful of garlic mash and espresso with cream... came home and had a small ripe fig with soft goat's cheese; stripped and re-made my bed, then ate the rest of last night's chicken soup... Hmmm, that sounds like a lot of food... :)

I hope you aren't so tired tomorrow.... a nice new day to do stuff with... :) cream is ok, but it's a bit rich I find... I love it on berries... :)
Thanks, back to work today, so no opportunities to nod off! I'm developing an addiction to cream, but I must stop it, I think that's what's interfering with my weightloss :-(
 
I'm pretty new to this so everything is an experience. Waiting for proper info re my " numbers" from clinic tomorrow.... so.... Breakfast today was 3 egg omelette with garlic flakes, ground onions, grated cheese and double cream and S & P, cooked in lots of butter.. Couple of sliced tomatoes on the side. Cup of tea with fat milk....? Is this ok for LCHF .... I really need to lose some weight too.

Sounds good to me!
 
B: yoghurt berries and cream, coffee with cream
L: chicken wrapped in bacon and a small portion of mushy peas which made my bg rocket!
D: scallops with asparagus sautéed in butter with some added veg I found in the fridge :-) yog, berries and cream. I've made a frittata for tomorrow with the remaining asparagus and loads of cheese.
Snack: had my first chocolate cravings for months and had a kitkat and snickers bar :blush: Not counting my calories today
 
B -Greek yoghurt with home-stewed rhubarb - no added sugar or sweetener, flax seed and flaked almonds
L -Single slice of fried bread with fried egg (came home very wet and cold after a site meeting with clients and needed something quick and hot)
D - Gammon steak, homemade fresh parsley sauce, baby spinach leaves, 2 x grilled tomatoes; single pot of Greek yoghurt with berries. BS +2= 6.6

Copy letter to my GP from the dietician I saw last week arrived in the post this morning....

It starts with

"This is a lady who is very motivated to do all it takes to manage her diabetes with dietary and lifestyle changes. .... For almost a year she has been following a diet which is in line with the Atkins diet. Her diet is unbalanced :mad: with only 30g or carbohydrate daily (general consent is that a minimum of 130g a day is necessary for most people) It also has high fat content and is very low in dietary fibre and is free from wholegrain.

Her diary shows good control - average glucose before and after meals is between 6-8mmol/1 with fasting levels of around 7mmol/1.

Today I congratulated her on her diabetes control and her motivation but stressed that the Atkins diet she is following is unhealthy, very restrictive and can cause serious health problems over the long term.

We agreed the following steps:

  • Maintain her current energy intake of 1500kcal/day
  • Stop high saturated fat foods and replace with low fat alternatives (I lied!)
  • Add wholegrains to each meal (I lied!)
  • If blood glucose is above her desirable range, she would do extra activity in the evenings to naturally bring blood glucose down. (So I've bought a treadmill)

This patient has a good understanding of a healthy diet but is extremely worried that any carbohydrate will increase her blood glucose level. She has researched SGLT-2 agents and is keen to trial it to help her transition from Atkins diet to a healthier balanced diet (I lied!). From my experience with SGLT-2, I would like to support her in this and therefore I ask you to kindly consider adding this to her prescription for a trial period!

RESULT!

In a nutshell, if I agree to add carbs to my diet, they will prescribe a drug for me which will remove the sugar from the carbs I digest....:banghead:

Nice one Poshtotty, but when will they ever learn???? You have done well by NOT doing the thing they've suggested ie eat more carbs. What's SGLT-2?
 
Ignore that question poshtotty, I've just looked it up. I've requested to go on Forxiga too, just waiting to hear from the Consultant. Fingers crossed!
 
Carbs & Cals book arrived yesterday, sunday.
This is going to be a big help.
The doughnuts that husband asked me to buy are 35g carbs each. Will keep well away from those.
Am I correct, some people are only have approx 50 to 60 carbs per day.
I thing I need to look at my portion size, but I don't know that I could ever get down to 60 carbs per day.
Portion size is important but if you want to eat really low carbs I guess you need to look more at WHAT you eat....
