B 2 egg cheese omelette & 4 bacon
L slightly late due to longer wait at hospital but same as day before, 1 slice of toasted burgen with cream cheese & avocado half a pack of pork scratchings, small piece of cheese
D doner kebab no pitta, last of the ginger thing 6.6 pre 6.8 post

Hospital was ok but as expected radiotherapy is needed as the biopsy of removed tumour revealed a more aggressive form of cancer than the previous biopsy, basically it's trying to spread into her nerves so we need to stop that, 6 weeks down at Mount Vernon starting soon, will be a tough few months ahead but hopefully will get this thing sorted! The misses is doing okay, but was most upset at being told no spicy food for a month or so, she can't go a day without chilli spice!!
Mount Vernon is a wonderful hospital, you are in good hands... you will need to be strong for the days and weeks ahead... good luck...

B: Vegetable omelette, 2 x espresso with cream (brought in my suitcase)
Two more espresso with cream
L: Coleslaw, mixed leaf salad, tbsp hummus and hearts of palm; tuna and salmon sashimi with wasabi and soy sauce; cheese, almonds and two strawberries
D: Black Angus fillet steak, cooked medium, creamed spinach, steamed broccoli, asparagus and carrot... and I ate about 8 french fries with mayo - the first real carbs in 5 months... after 2 hours was 5.8 but was 6.4 this morning... perhaps, as the numbers were good at 2 hours I need to eat some carbs midday so I don't get a huge LD in the morning? I didn't really care for them though, oddly, and could easily have ignored them... much harder for me to ignore the glass of good red wine that went with it... :)

B 4 streaky bacon 1 hard boiled egg
L 8 sprouts, 2 slice of corned beef, 1 burgen toasted with Philadelphia & avocado
D 3 sausages (Debbie and Andrews) 4 bacon, 5 mushrooms & 5 cherry tomatoes
Slice ( more of a spoonful as its crumble) ginger cake,
1 green tea 5 decaf coffee (got to stop the coffee)
BG same as yesterday
Why do you need to stop the coffee? Does it make you quiver? They say that five cups a day is good for you now... they may change their minds again of course.. :) I believe there is more caffeine in green tea? Is that correct?

When I bought nuts at Costco a few weeks ago, I bought pinenuts too. This week I decided to make my first pesto. We had it with spaghetti squash, topped with finely grated parmesan for dinner. It didn't take much to fill me up. Delicious!

I quite like to nibble them out of the bag.....just a few

B - cream cheese pancakes with blueberries and greek yoghurt
L - sausage, scrambled egg and mushrooms.

yesterday:

cream cheese pancakes with greek yoghurt, a handful of rasberries/strawberries/blueberries and 2 streaky bacon

Lunch: 2 egg omelette in coconut oil and a handful moz cheese

Evening: river cobbler fish curry in a aldi sauce ( didn't think to make own lol ) and app told me this was high in saturated fats, with cauli rice

snack: I had one slice of real buttered gluten free bread and 2 x peanut cookies and a delish sugar free jelly x 2 with cream

This week I started to use the fitnesspal app loading in my food and am not sure if some of my food choices were the best!

B: Mixed veg omelette; espresso with cream
2 inch by 1 inch piece of cheesecake - not low carb...
L: 2 drumsticks, a large green salad with parmesan shavings and... 5 french fries... tested at 5.4 two hours later...
D: Don't know yet but suspect salmon with steamed veg....

Meant to ask re saturated fat and this fitnesspal app...

I have just started to add my foods in it for today and its already telling me that am minus 3 in the saturated fat goals ( prob due to the eggs and butter and cream I have consumed. Should I ignore or reduce something?

Wondering if my set goals need adjusting?

50g Carbs per day - maybe too low as a newbie at this?

125g protein

144g fat

( if posted in wrong area feel free to move )

It sounds much the way my data did when I first started low-carbing... I assume you're low-carbing? You need fat, but there are other people on the forum who have a better grasp of it all... I just keep my carbs as low as I possibly can most of the time, but, after 5 months, I have started testing chips and a little cake, last night and today... I cannot eat carbs at night it seems as my fasting number was 6.7... :) So I tested lunch time and will test again before I eat dinner to see where I'm at... I will never eat eat grains again though.... :)

yes I am low carbing or at the very start of it...

In addition am eating gluten free so low carbing is really helping too...altho I tend to avoid the breads pastas etc and more so now!

Breakfast: fat free yoghurt and 2 boiled eggs

Lunch: chicken breast, broccoli and mange tout.

Dinner is going to be: chicken soup and celery with humous

Could murder a biscuit or bar of chocolate though :(

Lately I've been showing signs of ulcerative colitis or Crohn's so keeping things as plain as possible until my next lot of tests.

Hard isn't it when you're having a "hungry" day... I tend to try and munch on cheese which though a bit heavy on the calories does help to fill me up and subdue the "munchies".....sugarfree jelly and cream is another good one for me.....

Yes unfortunately I dont like cheese in any form :***:or nuts, two things that would probably help! Run out of sugarfree jelly until restock at weekend - that does help particularly with the double cream:hungry:!

Hope all goes well with the hospital treatment @Weird Science x

No it doesn't have an effect on me as it's decaf but obviously to make it decaf it has been refined or washed in chemical or wotnot and I think it's only 85% caffeine free or something, I would happily drink proper green tea (mocha) all day long except I can't have caffeine or never used to be able to, also because I have full fat milk in my coffee which has carbs, I notice on the days I had a lot of tea my BG was better, I guess it's just habit I need to break because I love coffee and the smell of it so much!

Many thanks for all your kind messages, much appreciated, the misses will get through this because despite being so petite she is very strong willed and is determined to beat this!

Had a Brazil nut on waking, but BG was still 9.4 an hour later before bf (went to bed night before at 6.8, any suggestions?) it came down to 7.5 post bf but would be nice to have it lower, I was on these levels on insulin also

B 6 salami round slices, small piece of cheese, celery & 2 cherry tomatoes
L same as yesterday
D sea bass & salad, sugar free jelly
May have something fat oriented later

My mum used to whisk carnation milk into jelly as it was setting to make a mousse - been wondering if single cream would work the same way........

In london for a mtg so was going to be difficult.
B. 2 boiled eggs and some crispy bacon I took with me to eat on train.
S. Coffee and shortbread biscuit -figured at least it would also be high fat.
