Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Friday 6.5
Sat 6.5
Today (Sunday) a more respectable 5.8
and I'm actually feeling more like my "normal" self, so I reckon I can definitely (well probably anyway!) blame state of health for many of my higher efforts.

Welcome... you do indeed, but on a diet of cream, cheese, eggs, bacon, sausages, fish, salad, buttered veg etc. it can hardly be called 'behaving' really... after 5.5 months I still feel an illicit thrill when I pour cream over my small dish of berries, or my slice of low-carb cheesecake... :joyful: I think it's heaven and don't miss porridge and bread at all... :)

@ally1, good morning... Thank you for that... you give me some hope! I'm glad you posted two reading.. I use AccuChek Mobile and I've been thinking I don't deserve a lot of the high readings I get... I wonder now about it... I will get another meter and see how it compares... Well done on what may be the lower reading too.. :)
 
5.6 this morning... and I feel much better in myself too... I wonder what it is that makes us go up and down that way? The thunderstorms were dramatic again here in Doha yesterday and this morning, but now it's sunny again... with more storms for later apparently... the pool here is full of children who are on half term holidays... how nice... :)
 
My fasting BG levels this morning is 8.2 which I think is quite high. It is certainly lower during the day. This leads me to what may be a very stupid question. I test my blood glucose level obviously before breakfast and therefore before I take my Metformin. Is this the correct way to do it? I am just curious as to why my blood glucose can be lower after a meal during the day.

7.4 I seems to be heading in the wrong direction ...where's that satnav when u need it lol .Was 6.7 before bed I don't usually test before bed ...maybe I slept walked to the fridge last night mmmm :rolleyes:

Morning Kate! Our fasting levels are often the last to start going lower, mine were when I was diagnosed in late June and began testing. Our livers can be to blame giving us an early morning "dump" to help us after fasting overnight! How long have you been testing?

Apologies if this has been asked many time before but your numbers are concerning as they are routinely a fair bit above 8, which is really not desirable. Are there additional factors contributing to this? Are you on medication and what are you typically eating and drinking each day? What kind of advice are you receiving?

Morning readings can be higher because of the 'dawn effect' which means your liver adds blood glucose as an aid to anticipated physical activity associated with getting up. In non-diabetics this is mopped up quickly but in diabetics the BG level takes a lot longer to subside.

9.5 this morning. Clinic tomorrow and starting on insulatart (sorry about spelling) hopefully will only be once a day.:rolleyes:
 
6.2 grrr after bedtime of 5.9. I did have a protein-y meal and a late coffee last night though.
