Tablets (oral)
tested my level 5 mins ago as i was feeling a bit woozy, turns out it read 3.8 so i ate one digestive biscuit to boost it up....question is...is this enough and how long after should i check again?

your gli can cause hypos, For most T2 a 3.8 is ok, but better safe than sorry. I'd treat anything under 4 till you can ring your HCP and see if they want you to reduce your Gli more. and I'd go to bed with a 7 and a protein/fat snack which may slowly digest overnight.
perhaps even set the alarm for 3-4am and check.

thanks jack but will the one biscuit raise it enough and when should i check again to see if it worked?

3.8 shouldn't cause any worries as it's perfectly normal. My BG used to be around 3.7-4.3, before diabetes. Don't worry and go easy on the biscuits.

Below 4 I too get fuzzy headed and start to become a little confused and hung over feeling.
Half a banana is like sticking electrodes on me and I'm up and running agai9n.

Hi Jack, you don't actually mean you eat bananas? I thought you were a sensible man.

Very rarely.
Only if I drop below four and feel rough and need to do things like drive.
I also sometimes mush a small banana up or half an average one and spread between four servings of yoghurt.
:hungry:
Sensible aye .... I think I might print this off for future reference .....

Low carb is working well for you numan, but it's definitely time to start talking to your doctor about cutting back on the gliclazide.

hi uart....already dropped from 320mg to 80mg of glyclazide daily with docs approval and thats after only 16 days low carbing

how did you go overnight?
might be time to ask about 40mg a day :)
once you're off the gli..with just metformin I can ignore 3.8 and you may be able to too

Perfect! :) The less of that you need then the easier it is on both your pancreas and your kidneys. Plus it means that your body is getting by with less insulin, which may result in less hunger and better metabolic control of your fats and energy levels.

If you keep up the good work then you might even be able to get off the glicazide completely.

so no lows/sweats or such overnight, that's good, the Dr is open there tomorrow, isn't it? Most new people would love 6.5 of a morning and with a 3.8 yesterday, it's time to ring him again. :)

took your advice jack and split my 80mg today, half this morning at 11am and i will take other half tonight with dinner, i'll see how that goes for a few days then contact doc

we can't give advice, I said "might be time to ask about 40mg a day" and " it's time to ring him again." I wouldn't change meds without putting it past a dr/hcp first. unless you have prior permission

yes i know mate, no worries, its my decision but after having hypos in the past and ending up in hospital twice completely zonked i am always wary of too low blood readings rather than some that are a little high.......thanks for taking the time
