Today I received the results of my first annual test for my type 2 diabetes. Diagnosed last March with a blood count of 8.3 and now 5.7 and three stone lighter. Doctor asked why I had stopped my statin. I explained that I had read it lowered good cholesterol as well as bad and it contributed to diabetes and I expressed other doubts. Surprisingly he agreed with me. He congratulated me on my progress. My check for my feet was fine as well as my eyesight ( fine for my age ) The nurse reckoned my sugar level was now lower than people without diabetes and she also congratulated me. My low carbohydrate - 100 grms and less - has worked. The nurse suggested I could go as high as 150 grms by adding potatoes back into my eating plan but I declined. Accepted with good grace. The practice seem to have a laid back approach to diabetes that possibly other practices don't. Enjoying my eating plan so the future looks good.
