Good luck! You are amazing!I've survived my first day of the cycle tour! 85km from Bilbao to Valles and a 300m climb right at the beginning!. I am thrilled I have survived and so far only have minor nappy walk.
I went at a very slow pace, but isn't it amazing what you can achieve if you just pace yourself! Tomorrow I might have more problems, as although it's mainly flat it's a long ride of 140km. Staying positive though - there are loads who would love to be in my place. Wish me luck. x

Cleaning inside the car is hard work because you basically have to contourt yourself into peculiar spaces - it might as well have been yoga, so it most definitely counts!I exaggerated. I just cleaned inside the car.It took ages though.
You better believe it. A big car, and very grubby. One of these days I might even clean the outside the old fashioned way with bucket and sponge.Cleaning inside the car is hard work because you basically have to contourt yourself into peculiar spaces - it might as well have been yoga, so it most definitely counts!![]()
Blimey, that is a long way. Is the weather really hot too?Well, I didn't manage the full 140km of day two (I didn't drink enough and got dehydrated!) but have managed a further two days of 110km of cycling! Bum is most definitely pretty sore, but 'butt cream' (or chamois cream) helps with that. (I have discovered that over-dinner discussions after cycling often revolve around where your sore bits are!) Tired but very happy with how much I've managed so far. Another tough day (for me - not the hardened cyclists) tomorrow. Thanks so much for the positive feedback - you can get to a pretty low ebb when you are physically exhausted, but it's lovely to read supportive comments from friends on the forum.![]()
It certainly seems a long way on a bike! Managed a 135km ride yesterday (my longest ever!) but today I wimped out at 50km, mainly because tomorrow is the last and hardest day of the tour and I wanted to be sure to arrive in Bilbao with a smile on my face! It's been brilliant fun - weather has been hot but lovely and the views over the last couple of days have been spectacular! Pamplona to San Sebastián today has been magnificent!Blimey, that is a long way. Is the weather really hot too?
Respect to you .
