Documentary says fruit is the answer to sweet treat cravings! I think snacking on fruit was part of my problem! In the exploration, it stated that fruit doesn't count towards the daily allowance. The four candidates had to reduce sugar intake to 6 teaspoons a day. No mention of carbs converting to sugar. They still seem to be eating starchy carbs and root veg.
lots of blame (rightly) on bad guys - sweets, cakes, fizzy drinks, fruit juices and hidden sugars in savoury items too... but not a lot on carbs
