Omg just back from docs. Weighed 132kg on diagnosis in 24th Aug, now 120. 12kg in 3 weeks - low carb rocks (think metformin is helping) so pleased!!! Just need it to show up in bloods now - my stable state is between 6 and 6:8 would like to get it into the 5s.

Still no weight loss for me. I've cut all carbs except breadcrumbs on chicken or fish.
I'm a bit upset today as I was convinced I'd lost.
Looking at my new diet I am eating too many calories (nuts and pork scratchings).
I'm not prepared to give up on the lchf diet as I feel i just need to perfect it.

Is there any real reason you haven't given up the breadcrumbs on the chicken and fish? In your shoes, I'd be looking to drop those, before cutting calories.

On a low income and have 2 young children who love their fish fingers and chicken nuggets. It's more cost effective to occasional eat with them or the same as them. Same oven load etc..
OH has set aside a bit of cash for a new wok. I'm going to experiment. Any guidelines I should adhere too?

Down to 122Kg. Still coming off at 1.2Kg per week. Maxing out the initial offload with additional exercise. Clothes are starting to fall off me which is annoying.

I decided 18 months ago at 22 stone after years of differing diets to take control of myself and my Type 1 so took up calorie counting and daily all out swimming - eventually swimming in 1 week 1,000 lengths - and boy did I loose weight now weigh in at 11 4. Insulin has dropped considerably and have much more energy and best of all no fancy diet just 1200 calories a day - low fat low carb and high protein - if you are motivated you can do it it's not easy but so worth it - oh and I'm a BK amputee as well and 51 :D

Was technically 'normal weight' when I was diagnosed as the high end of pre diabetic and told to take metformin (I didn't take it).
Started LCHF diet and have lost 7kg so far with little effort. Aiming to lose another 3-5 Kg to get to 55kg and hoping that might take me below my 'personal fat threshold' for diabetes. Annoying to have such a low fat threshold and everyone looks at me and goes 'You can't be diabetic you're not fat!" Even the doctor said - 'but you've no weight to lose' and she is the diabetic specialist apparently.

Myself I added 6lb when I stopped metformin, glaclazide and sitagliptin for insulin. High doses too.
Yesterday I was weighed at my local leisure centre and I've lost 12lb. (121.60kg now)
I'm delighted. I thought it would never happen. Lchf diet and canagliflozin 100g and reducing 36,36 +64 insulin units.

The tricky thing about the personal fat threshold is nobody knows where it sits in any given individual. What is it that makes you think that the 10kg mark is where your ".......such a low fat threshold.... " sits?

I'm not suggesting you're wrong, I'm just curious how you reached your conclusion.

Good luck with it all. Positive efforts and actions deserve positive results.

So I got weighed! Drum roll please.... I have lost 7Kg since 21st Aug. I am stunned and so so pleased! The hard work is paying off! I know lots of that is probably water but it's such an encouraging start! So that's 7 down 45 to go! Take that diabetes!

First day back at school today and the kitchen made me a special no carb lunch, the cook is going to do that every day so during the week I will have one meal that I don't have to think about! My spiralizer also arrived today so can now start doing courgette spaghetti and noodles!

Still struggling with what to have at breakfast - today I had high protein Greek Yog and some rhubarb but didn't really enjoy it. Any ideas? I really want to try to keep below 50 carbs a day so don't want to spend more than 10 on breakfast. Bacon and egg is good but too difficult during the week.

I'm so grateful for this forum - without it I don't think I would be coping in this diabetic storm!
What about a lightly fried egg on toast, I use Lurpak Cooks Range Cooking Mist - it's an aerosol spray, or 40g of porridge boiled in water or use Alpro Unsweetened Almond, is also nice on cereal - no carbs or sugar. Or a low carb cereal with Alpro

It was only until I started calorie counting on very low sugar and low carb high fat did my weight start to move in the right direction. Mind u I am 8 stones overweight and been t2 for 13 yrs.
Well done for losing. When you realise the sugar is poisons us it's definitely worth it.

This is all so great to read and makes me feel more motivated now I see others my weight who are losing it. I got diagnosed 2 years ago but didn't take it seriously at all until I felt so ill, bought a BG monitor and it was 12.5. Got some scales and was 142 kg. Scared myself silly. I have let myself go as I lost my son to cancer 5 years ago and basically have up on everything, even my job as a childminder. Glad to say that in the last 2 months that I have looked forward and now swim twice a week, I am 131 kg and BS around 7 to 8. This group had helped me so much!

With this low sugar diet I'm trying to keep it to 10-15g of sugar per day. I haven't worried too much about the fat content. If you can manage it try a low fat and sugar diet.
Fresh fruit and veg are natural sugars.
Don't forget that any product labelled as low fat - is high in sugar.
Recently I have purchased Xylitol sweetener and have made my first cake with it by substituting the sugar, lovely

I've now lost weight. 2 weeks ago I weighed 121.60 yesterday weighed in as 117.96. A 3.5kg loss in 2 weeks is more than I ever hoped for. More more more. I'm loving it. I'm looking smaller but still have huge tummy. Calorie counting with my new book and app with less insulin, tablet medication and vigilance. Avoiding stress and tiredness as much as possible too.

30 Kg since the start of the new year. MInd you, at the weight I was I could still eat 2000 cals per day and still be 1500 cal short of my minimum requirement. It's got difficult now as I am having to increase exercise and decrease food substantially to get any progress. Mind you, bloods are now all very low so, it does work. I want to lose 20 Kg more, possibly 30 Kg as a sort of consolidation and a buffer zone.

Best of all, my sweet tooth has gone. Apples, pears, tomatoes etc are all very sweet for me now. I steer clear of pineapple, grapes, melon etc.
Hope you don't mind me asking, but why have you given up pineapple and melon pears and toms? I'm trying to understand diabetes having just been diagnosed .

I also stay clear of most fruits as their sugar also affects my BGs.
