Reactive Hypoglycaemia

I was scared today at 3.1 this was the first time I have ever caught my sugar this low and I definitely felt I started trembling legs went shaky and my world was turning too fast. Amazing how quickly I dropped and then how quickly I picked back up. I don't fancy many more days like that!

Kaz did you manage to look at tpa website even if you haven't got a problem with your thyroid (I suspect you might have) there is a range of recommended tests for adrenal
Stress thyroid hormone and sex hormones all of which you need to look at. There is a private company than can do most of these by saliva. I know it's a cost but if you are armed with information then you can start to put things right.

Thanks everyone for all the support today. Boy I also glad I found you lot xxx
I did have a quick look, thanks Emma. My hairdresser also thought it could be thyroid related. When I get a minute, I'll have a look in more detail. There's definitely something going on other than just RH.

Hope your little one is feeling better? I'm still battling to get my youngest to sleep tonight. She used to sleep so well! Oh the joys lol!! I am secretly enjoying my snuggle in bed though

Has anyone ever suffered stuttering when either suffering high or low bg
Yeah stuttering, slurring, confusion, not focused, personality change, its like you're drunk. Thats why I was sent for an mri incase it was a neurological problem. I caught a 3.3 this year but never realised that it was a hypo causing it.

Hi @Wendolph

This may sound strange but they are as near perfect numbers that anybody could hope to achieve. Okay, you maybe happier in the 5-6 zone at present but you might want to remember that you are on the cusp of going into ketosis. Your body , bloods, hormones are getting their act together to help you achieve this!
You may be feeling a little grotty at the moment but you should, please, be getting your energy from your body fat instead of the food soon and you will slowly feel better and have more energy, like getting a second wind when we used to do all them miles years ago.
Thats really good to hear. I'm sure my body will catch up soon. I'm still not 100percent sure what ketosis is, though I've heard you and brun say it many times. I think as well as the tiredness having figures in the 4s puts the worry there that it will drop.

Names are my downfall or proper names!

But no stuttering, but I think it's down to age!

Do have a read about ketosis, it is a nice place to be!

My weight has stopped dropping and I'm wondering if I have added in too much dairy. It could be just because my thyroid is under medicated though at the moment as I am having to build myself back up gradually x

Hi Emma, just having a look into this and have found my results from the synacthen test I had recently. Pardon my ignorance but what's the tpa website? Do you know much about interpreting test results if I pm you my results?
Thanks for your help x

I don't sadly but if you google tpauk it stands for thyroid patient advocacy join as a member it's free and then post your synacthen results on the main forum
Explaining your current health issues and that you wonder if you have a thyroid problem you will find many people who can assist. I'll look out for your post Emma xx

Hi guys,
I checked my fasting B.G. this am in bed it was 5.8 and I had hoped for a lower reading.
I am trying stopping taking the 5mg daily Atorvastatin for a week to see if it comes down?

B.G. at +1hr after start of lunch today was 7.1. which is fine for me.
regards
Derek

I might be a little premature and you do know your own health better than me, but whilst I do agree with you that the need for statins is unnecessary and probably does raise your blood glucose levels a couple of points. Take it easy, reduce the meds slowly and methodically, to just stop would skew your results maybe even more. For an example, take none tomorrow, have two or three days worth, then take none, two days, then none, one day then none.
Hopefully by this time in two weeks time, you will see them odd points come off.
Have you discussed the statins with your GP or consultant?

Thanks Nosher, I will bear this in mind. I intended to just try this for a few days.
Problem is whenever I change my tablets/doses it has an effect on my Warfarin blood results.

I try not to take too much of my G.P.'s time, I have used up the precious resource a lot in the last twelve years.
Thanks again
Derek

I want to asks GP to change my monitor as I have the freestyle lite and the sticks are über expensive. Anyone have any recommendations? Many thanks Emma

Hello I think I have made a low carb hot choc but just want to run it past you guys.

It's a mug of Ko Yo (coconut drink) warmed in microwave with a teaspoon of bournville cocoa powder. Tastes nice can I drink it? Xx
