Letter telling me must use new meter

I have got one of these nexus meters....got it off a friend who didn't need it as she had her accu chek one. I don't use it. I hate it. It takes a hell of a lot of blood to fill the strip, and it reads very high. And when i say high, I mean rather a large difference. The nexus for example...

Do you think type 1 diabetes is a disability or a condition?

Re: Do you think type 1 diabetes is a disability or a condit I think it depends on if you have any complications etc. I also have Epilepsy, and I would class that as a disability, but my Diabetes is a condition. The diabetes, although a pain in the butt having to watch what I eat, remembering...

    A bit confused

Sophie, I see what you mean. I don't normally test at 1 hr, it's normally 2, but I have been keen to see when the insulin starts working. I am never below 17, so always start high...which is really frustrating me at the moment...

    A bit confused

I didn't have any dressing on it at all, jsut plain lettuce! Quite gross really! LOL! The beetroot was pickled, as was the pickled onion...would the residue on thes really be enough to make me spike? I am only on Novomix 30 at the mo, which I inject 15 mins before eating. My readings are...

    A bit confused

I had 3 pieces of cheese, some beetroot, a pickled onion, 3 strips of chicken, lettuce, an egg. I have no idea about how low is low, but I was hoping, as it had no bread, potatoes, pasta etc, I would go high like i do if i have any of those things. 24g...is that high for one meal? Should I...

    A bit confused

I am a little confused. Today, I increased my Novomix to 12u twice a day. Before my tea, my BG was at 18.1 I had an egg salad for my tea, and the total carb intake came to 24g. This is the first time i have carb counted. But I am surprised that when i tested an hour later, I had gone up to...

    feeling quite discouraged

Don't be too hard on yourself, you have done so well :) Figures below 10 are numbers I can only dream of! Like you, I started off at 17...everyday, guarantee no lower than 17! 6 weeks down the line, even with insulin, I am still waking on 17! It does get disheartening, but you, and I, will get...

    Hello

Its' been approx 6 weeks. The medication had absolutely no effect on my levels, and I have been gradually going higher despite interventions. Due to the lack of response (no response whatsoever) my GP has done a GAD test, and has now told me I am LADA.

    Hello

Well, I got some answers today!! The GP tells me I am slow onset type 1. And today, I have been started on Novomix 30. My head is all over the place at the moment...I am pleased I finally know what is going on, but it has come as a shock that I am having to inject. I did my first one this...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn First time for me to contribute..... 17.9 for me. This is a pretty normal reading for me at the mo!

    Hello

Fingers crossed you get good results back that give you some answers. At dx, my GP suggested she might try me on Byetta...good for weightloss :) But since I have been recording consistantly high readings, she seems to have changed her mind and is now saying straight to insulin. I am of...
