    Replacing inner needle cap

I always replace the inner needle cap before throwing them away and have rarely had an accident. But I have had a lot of practice because I used to reuse my needles years ago before changing to single use.

Type 1 - Is it genetic?

I have a quite a large extended family and besides my great aunt who had type 2 diabetes in her elder years I am the only one with type 1 which I have had since childhood. The physician at the time of my diagnosis told my parents that he believed it was hereditary and that any children that I...

    Simvastatin caution

I stopped taking Simvastastin over a year ago now. All it did was cause me abdominal cramps, upset stomachs, nausea, itchiness & rashes which all disappeared when I stopped taking them. Personally I think statins should only be offered to people with higher than normal cholestorol levels and...

    injecting in a public place

I inject wherever I like, there is no law that forbids it and even if there was one, I would ignore it. If seated with people who are not family I will usually courteously explain the situation and have never had a problem.

    Taxi Driver

A taxi was driving down the high street when the passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath narrowly missing pedestrians and stopped just short of a shop window. Everything went quiet...

Just caught up on iPlayer - an hour of classic (not classic-al) music. "Don't Bring Me Down" was a favourite of mine.

    Stoptober -are you quitting smoking?

When I stopped about 4 years ago after many different attempts this is what worked for me. Stop completely - I didn't cut down or use replacements, patches etc. Every time you get the urge, do something, anything. In my case I drank water when I had nothing left to do. Do not mix with anyone...

    Sitting here in tears

As previously mentioned, good glucose level control is key. If you can get on top of that you will feel so much better in yourself and that will also help lessen the bouts of depression too. As for financial worries, if you feel your debts are becoming too substantial to maintain, I would visit...

    Flu Jab

Three years ago I had the swine flu vaccination & pneumonia vaccine. Unfortunately I caught swine flu and I have never felt so ill in all my life. The previous two years I decided not to have any vaccines and have not had any problems so I've decided to continue to abstain from the vaccinations...

At a maximum I have two slices of wholemeal bread a day with either my breakfast or split with my main meal. But everyone is different and depends on how well if fits in with your glucose levels & lifestyle.
