Has anyone had gout?.and is it related to my type diabetes?

I'm sure you're right that there are all sorts of factors involved. I think it's estimated that roughly a third of the bodies uric acid production comes from dietary purines, which might be what your doctor had in mind? In my own case, I'm pretty sure that it's the contribution from dietary...

Has anyone had gout?.and is it related to my type diabetes?

Nobody has mentioned purines in food, which I understand to be the main cause. In my case, it's been enough to stop drinking beer to avoid attacks. Other high purine foods include organ meats and some seafood including shellfish. It's probably more important to avoid these than to add things to...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Half shoulder of lamb in the slow-cooker with carrots, celery and onions. Seasoned with thyme, garlic, salt, pepper, knallo vegetable stock cube. To follow: small amounts of Brie, kefir, live natural yoghurt. Assorted toasted nuts.

    Greek yoghurt

250g twice a week. That's 7.5 grams of lactose twice a week in a very, very low carb lifestyle. I just want someone to tell me it's negligible ;)

    Greek yoghurt

I only eat one meal a day and my diet is fatty meat, fish, cheese, eggs, a few non-starchy vegetables, oil, vinegar and sometimes nuts. So carbs are very, very low. I was diagnosed at 10% and my next HbA1c 6 weeks later was 7.2%, so I am guessing these foods are not a problem. Not that I have...

    Greek yoghurt

I have a fondness for FAGE Greek Yoghurt (the full-fat version). It has 3g of carbohydrate (presumably in the form of lactose) per 100g - lower than many vegetables. I don't measure my bg, but does anyone have any opinions/experience on whether caution is needed with this product?

    Buona sera from Italy.

I'm not averse to a kilo of good beefsteak myself. My wife thinks it's excessive. Women. Don't care. Two other nights, I just ate what I call the Norcino and Pecorino diet. With a good red. Love that, too.

    Buona sera from Italy.

I was in Florence recently. I cheated on my LCHF, sugar-free diet the first, second and third nights: pizza at Caffe Italiano twice and once in an inferior place. Ice cream at GROM and Vivoli. I never cheat in the UK. Not worth it. All named places strongly recommended ... to the...

    Low Carb Diets Dangerous

Right, I'm going to have pasta for dinner and ask my doctor to start me on medication.

    Low Carbs

I just ditched all food with non-negligible levels of carbohydrate straight away. I felt a bit weak and dizzy at times for 2-3 days and noticed some non-dramatic changes in bowel habit over the first couple of weeks. I don't weigh foods or count carbs or calories. I just eat the following...

    Type 2 Alcohol

In this case, you can truly say 'it's for medicinal purposes'.

    Keeping The Body Guessing

I feel I'm moving quite naturally towards 'one meal a day' in the early evening. Apart from that, I take just water or black coffee. I've heard a couple of people (I think Jason Fung, Caryn Zinn) mention the idea that if you get into too much of a routine, the body may adapt by lowering the...

Anyone doin One Meal a Day (OMAD)

I'm doing it more and more often. If a wave of hunger comes during the day, I drink water or black coffee and think of the money I'm saving.
