    Hacks to reduce energy costs

Good heavens that's expensive: my hydro (electricity) cost is about $600 pa, and my gas cost is about $800 pa, that is about $1400 pa (or about GBP 900 pa at the current exchange rate). And Toronto has a warmer climate in the summer and a colder climate in the winter than the UK.

    balanoposthitis

As I have never heard of it before, I had to to consult Dr Google for clarification. Anyway, it is really only minor surgery, and it will provide a permanent solution.

Oh boy we're lucky in the UK

There are a lot of myths surrounding the US health care system. The problem that I have with the Washington Post article is that it reeks of sensationalism. Healthcare is NEVER free, somebody has to pay for it, even here in Canada. A major problem with US healthcare is that it is horribly...

Type 1 Sensor issues due to heat?

I go to the sauna virtually every day for between 20 and 30 minutes where the temperature is significantly higher than the heat wave. It has never fallen off my arm for heat reasons, and I am now on sensor 84. What does happen, it stops working until I am in a cooler environment.

T1 driving in the UK, fingerprick versus Libre

Athough I lived and worked in a number of left side countries (SA, UK, Mozambique) and right side countries (US, Canada, Ivory Coast), I have never driven a car that was not meant for that specific country). My only advice would be to be very cognizant of your immediate environment at all times...

Please, let's do a swap! Many of us here in Canada (except the politicians) will be very happy campers!!!!

Kellogg’s loses high court case against UK obesity strategy - your thoughts

The problem with the nanny state is that often its actions are driven by political interest groups. Here in Canada the dairy and egg mafia have too much say in government policy.

    Showers Affecting BG

I also found that when I take a hot shower, or go to the sauna, that my BG readings on my Libre spike. It is just some silly readings ( I suppose the heat impacts the sensors somehow.) However, 30 or 40 minutes later, my BG readings are back to where it suppose to be. PS. When I stay too long...

Type 2 Do's and don'ts informing a T2 on Low carb, advice please

Are the Dutch not known to be very direct? That should certainly make it easier to ask questions, or making statements.

    insulin good?

My guess is that it would probably be OK. However, do a test, and see whether the result is more or less what you would expect

Blood glucose monitor readings and their accuracy?

@markpj31 - I have come to accept that the average a1c from my BG meter is lower than what I get from the vampires (blood testing service). The difference is about 0.8%. Yes, it does take some time to find the right insulin dosage. One's BG level is a complex dynamic between the foods one...

Type 1 Is anyone else completely intolerant to sun and heat? Is it a diabetic thing?

I don't mind hot weather during the day, as long as it cools off considerably during the night - nature's own air conditioning system! However, sometimes, it fails.... Here in Canada, we oscillate between the arctic in January and February, and the tropics during July and August.

Type 2 To stop doing bs readings

I cannot manage my diabetes without testing for my BG levels.
