Metformin accidental overdose.. feeling so stupid..

In no way are you stupid- it's the pharmacy's fault for not telling you they'd changed your tablets. Considering they look different depending on different brands, they should tell you if you need to take fewer.

    Dr Almond

Hello I've seen an ad for this but the cost- ouch! When it says £6 or thereabouts for bread mix, how much bread does one packet make?

    Dr Almond

Has anyone tried Dr Almond products? They look good but are so expensive and I'm not sure if they are worth trying.

    Can retinopathy clear up?

I've been type 2 for 15 years, good control on LCHF diet and I take metformin. Last year at my screening the screener said immediately that she could see "a bit of background" in both eyes. This was after clear scans every year since 2004. This year I went for my screening and she said my eyes...

    Taken off gliclazide

Yes that's what I was thinking. I looked on my record online and the strips are still there. The DN said she thinks all type 2s who want them should have them so maybr it's practice policy. I would be able to afford them if not, luckily, so should be ok if they suddenly change their minds.

    Taken off gliclazide

I think it's going to be 6 months until my next hba1c. I'm lucky enough to be able to use test strips so I'm going to keep a close eye on my levels over the next weeks and months

    Taken off gliclazide

Thanks for your reply. Yes it was the risk of hypos she was worried about, I forgot to add that. I'll just have to see how it goes- if I have to go back on them that's fine, I just don't want to risk long term high levels

    Taken off gliclazide

My last HBA1C was 42, so happy with that. I'm just a bit worried that my DN asked my doctor whether I could reduce my meds and she has taken me off gliclazide. I'm still on the highest dose of metformin which is fine. I have lost 4kilos since May and upped my exercise but I'm concerned that my...

    Post prandial?

I'm never sure if post prandial means 90 minutes or 2 hours. If I test an hour after eating and my bg goes up 5 points but goes back down by 6 after two hours is that dangerous? I tried to get this info from the diabetes nurse but I didn't really get an answer. I'm type 2 managed by metformin...

    Gliclazide Problem

An update to my earlier post- I contacted my DN to explain about my hypos and she told me to stop the gliclazide and rely on the metformin. Yesterday and today my readings have been great, for example my BG before dinner was 4.9 and 2 hrs later it was 5.4. I am finding it hard to believe that...

    Gliclazide Problem

Yes I can tolerate Metformin with no problems so am happy to take it. The gliclazide was causing my hypos so I don't think it's a good idea to continue with it especially as I was having to eat carbs to get my levels back up! I will be seeing my doc soon but for now I'm stopping the gliclazide...
