    Statin

Just be advised the statins can raise your BG's and in some people cause chronic muscle pain. I'm not anti-statins per-se, but as with all medications there are pros and cons

    Any advice about stomach ulcer?

Are they sending you for a helicobacter pylori test? if it's caused by that a simple course of antibiotics kills the bug and your stomach (should) recover.

Newly Diagnosed - what to eat

I don't track any macros, just keep my carb levels low, by avoiding (as much as possible) the usually suspects - Rice, Bread, pastry, potatoes, pasta, cereals. BUT if you can get a meter and test before you eat & 2 hours after, if your BG is more than 2 points higher then your body can't cope...

    I need to share

Just back from the DN, and doing a happy dance in the corner, my Ac! equivalent is 51. Not really changed much, just kept plodding on with what I was doing, but it shows that my Ac1's were being affected by my "dodgy" blood (I've got an above average blood blood cell count) and getting a...

    Cannot have a hba1c?

Yep - I have to have a fructosamine test - I've got too many red blood cells. It's a "send away" test, so the results take longer to come back, but without any changes to my eating/meds my results dropped by the equivalent of 10 points. My haematologist has had various tests done - and it's just...

    Seriously dry feet

I have one foot that's terrible, Flexitol didn't touch it. I've recently switched to this and the improvement is almost miraculous. I'm also using an inexpensive Glycolic acid Face Serum (on the really dry foot) a couple of days a week

    Weight loss injections & Retinopathy

I believe it depends on the stage of your retinopathy. I'm on Trulicity, which is a GLP inhibitor, but not on of the ones currently being prescribed as a weight loss drug, although it's definitely an appetite suppressant for me, and has helped reduce the "food noise" volume too. I've got stage...

    Dapagliflozin and peeing

When/if your BG's reduce it will slow down, your bladder will also get used to you being more hydrated. I only had 1 night visit last night, but I'm a woman of a certain age too, and one of the luck ones who can (usually) be back to sleep within a few minutes. Do you east your main meal in...

Rant about diabetes review/ GP surgery madness

I'm just going to add my *small rant to the thread. Despite the fact I see my sensible DN every 3 months and we review my meds and progress, my GP surgery won't issue any more meds until I've had a review with their Pharmacist. What a waste of both my time and their's (and NHS funds) GRRRRRRRRRRRR

    Easy To Make Pesto

I too go down the edamame/black bean spaghetti when I "really" need pasta :), I don't dislike konjac noodles, but find that they're a better replacement for noodles in a stir fry or other chinese food.

    Newly diagnosed with type2

Personally - Swap the porridge for Greek yoghurt with your berries, go down the North European cold meats & cheese route or eggs in any form. Lunch loose the bread/wrap and increase the salad, add some dressing. Dinner more green leafy veg and less pasta. It's not about eating less, it's...

    Type 2 Trulicity

I've got a Frio pouch that's the same size as a standard pencil case that works well, although I've never taken it on a flight

How to prevent the post breakfast spike

For me your breakfast would definitely give me a huge spike. I'm most insulin resistant in the morning, and have a strong Dawn Phenomenon too. Breakfast for me is (usually) just coffee. But if I am hungry in the am, I go for a German type breakfast of cold meat/cheese, eggs in some form or...
