    Feet

Well, I'd certainly see the podiatrist ASAP- but in the meantime, I'm wearing warm, comfortable socks even in bed these days (VERY cold feet, alas) and they seem to help with the foot pain as well- add maccassins around the house, and Doc Martens outside, and I seem to be fairly happy.

    Eye laser treatment

"Thank you for that but I'm extremely nervous and if I'm like that my body shakes so I'm scared some damage might occur if I don't keep still." I can understand that! It will help if you let the surgeon know your fears, and they can help- even give extra painkillers if needed, though the...

    Aspie meltdown DURING laser surgery!

Just an update, friends: I managed the extra session OK- with a nurse in the corner keeping an eye on me!- and have finally managed to hold it together long enough to get booked for counselling regarding my more emotional problems. In future, I'm making sure the surgeon ALWAYS knows my Aspie...

    Aspie meltdown DURING laser surgery!

Thanks, both. I'm currently waiting on an appointment re my anxieties/meltdown- but the whole affair during the surgery was the worst example in- well- decades. Scared myself half to death, my wife even worse- and she's the one helped me recognise the aspergers' in the first place! Another...

    Retinopathy laser treatment side effects?

I've had scatter laser (both eyes) and macular laser (right eye only) so far, and the symptoms you describe aren't in my experience personally- I'd still ask for a wee chat with the eye specialist though, as they will know better than I can what symptoms can show up. For myself, I've...

    What suits you for breakfast?

Just for info, I'm type 2 and on Metformin, Glibenclamide, Losartan Pottassium, and Gabapentin (yeeeeesh...) My preferred breakfast is muesli (specifically M&S 4-grain with a splash of full fat milk), a glas of orange juice, and a capuccino from my own espresso machine- very middle class I...

how high and how low have you been?

Hi, I'm type II on Metformin and Glibenclamide. My highest was on diagnosis @3-4 years back, at 27... My lowest has been 2.4 I fealt quite odd at 2.4, almost like being drunk- I felt constantly ill before diagnosis and for a year or so after until the sugar levels levelled off. I normally...

    Aspie meltdown DURING laser surgery!

Gods, but sometimes I do feel trapped. A few weeks ago I needed yet more panretinal coagulation treatment for the proliferative retinopathy- this makes the fifth session so far in 3 years, and was the first lot for my left eye- and, during the treatment, I ahd a full- blown meltdown. For those...

    Aspergers Syndrome, type II diabetic

Thank you so much, and the others- this does help, believe me! My wife takes me to and from my eye appointments and ops- I didn't drive before, and now my vision keeps changing so the last surgeon advised I shouldn't drive anyway! Without my wife I honestly think I'd have gone insane by now...

    Aspergers Syndrome, type II diabetic

Hi all I'm a type II diabetic, with diabetic retinopathy in both eyes- and an Aspie to boot. Really, I just want to know if anyone else has experience of this rather unpleasant combination? Makes new doctors and nurses a bit of a trial I will confess...

    Laser in both eyes now

BIG thanks for this, folks: I suspect it was quite intense laser- my peripheral vision is pretty much gone on the right, and the pain was impressive last time. I amy indeed be sensitive- I do tend that way- but the painkiller thing is one I'm going to use this time. Again, many thanks. :-)

    Laser in both eyes now

Hi friends I'm type II and have had several sessions laser now in the right eye for retinopathy. At the most recent check, I was told the left eye is now proliferating and I need urgent laser surgery in both eyes. I have two real concerns/questions: 1/ Last time it REALLY hurt in the right...

    small retinal hole

I've had three sessions so far, all pan-retinal coagulation on the left eye. The first couple were OK, uncomfortable but not bad. The third, though, did hurt- and my eyes shut down mid-session: I had a solid view of green, very odd. So: if in doubt, talk to the surgeon and if need be have the...
