    Arrrgghh Low carb not working….

Really interesting to hear about your BG going up with the flushes. To be fair, the flushes have settled down a bit, but they were hideous. I do still get one or two a day, but less aggressive. They won’t give me HRT til the bloods improve, maybe they should turn that idea on its head...

    Arrrgghh Low carb not working….

I’m on the dreaded metformin. I’ve got another blood test booked for next week, and then GP follow up. So will put all that forwards as suggestion. Thank you!

    Arrrgghh Low carb not working….

Nope, but I don’t need to take iron supplements any more. They won’t give me HRT until my blood sugar are back under control.

    Arrrgghh Low carb not working….

Diagnosed about 2.5 yrs ago. Understand about the total carb count per meal, will deffo give that a much sharper focus. I get tested every 3 months, hence a big shock to have that jump. I did have surgery in August which has resulted in me going into immediate surgical menopause?

    Arrrgghh Low carb not working….

Hello I’ve been eating low carb food for 2 years now, managed to get off the meds, and manage the t2 with diet alone. I don’t eat food with anything higher than 10g carbs per 100g. So, y’know, fruit, veg, nuts, protein, yog, etc. I don’t slip; I might overeat low carb stuff cos, y’know, food...

Quick or Stupid Question! BG reading

Apols. 8.9 was about 1.5 hours after eating. I’ve just tested again (so about 2.5 hrs later) and it’s actually still 8.9. I’ve missed oats quite a lot, wanted to see what the impact would be. Hence just giving it a go. If it doesn’t work I’ll just go back to missing them!

Quick or Stupid Question! BG reading

Hello wise ones! T2, managed by diet (thanks to this group and their amazing knowledge). Readings usually sit around 7-9. (GP happy with that). I have reintroduced a v small bowl of porridge to my diet today at lunchtime. Reading before eating was 6.2 (12 hr empty tummy), and just done it...

    Hello :)

It’s going to be hard to begin with, but, I would recommend ditching rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, cereal, and see if that has any impact on your BS levels. (Hint: it will) They are all just sugar as far as your body is concerned. Also, Huel is not low carb enough, do some googling for a...

    Hello :)

Hey Thomas Welcome! And flippin well done on all that exercise. What are you eating? Most of the T2s on here advocate for a v low carb diet with high fat & protein to get the blood sugars down. The standard eat well/live well plate approach just doesn’t work.

HbA1c result after 6 months low carbing!

My go-to snack attacks: celery & peanut butter (or cream cheese); blueberries or an apple, few frozen cherries; bit of ham; Greek yog; make myself a green smoothie; I used to also eat the amazing 100% seed crackers that M&S did, but they seem to have stopped selling them [emoji30]

Should you not test every day or even at all if you’re aT2?

I agree with everyone else. If you know what every single meal or mouthful is doing to your bloods, you will know what spikes you. Until you have all that info tucked away in the ol’ knowledge bank, you are doing it blindfolded.

HbA1c result after 6 months low carbing!

I must confess to having taken all the pastry off a sausage roll my kid rejected, and just eating the sausage!! But when I see the biscuit/ice cream/chips, I genuinely say to myself: I can’t eat that. If it gets offered to me by someone else, I apologise and say ‘I’m sorry, I can’t eat [insert...

    Recommendations for high fat source?

Chicken in a slow cooker is an easy win. Eat it with green leafy stuff or some quickly pinged courgette ribbons.

HbA1c result after 6 months low carbing!

Hey all After scores of 83, then 66, my score this week was….. 34!! I’ve been eating low carb/high fat/high protein since May, and have also lost over 2 and a half stone. However my daily target is to keep my bloods in the 4-7 zone. Any weight loss is just a bonus. Wanted to post an update...
