    CEREAL

The amount of sugar a cereal contains is only half the story. You also need to look at the total carbs, which roughly translates into how much of the product which be broken down into carbohydrates in the column. Beside that it also matter what type of grain the product is made from. Oat &...

    Heat and attitude

I usually get either hyperactive or downright evil when BS is low. Of course if its too high I get cranky as well but nothing like when it gets low..were talking ready-to-snap-someone-in-half evil  Once I get it up to a normal level I usually cant even see what i was so **** mad about...

trouble keeping on top of insulin

I'd say the reward for testing and injecting as needed, is you will feel significantly better. Looking back I was no **** different when I was around 18, BS levels and testing was not on the prio list heh! But I could have made my own life a whoole lot easier if I had tried my best to keep it...

    no control

Its very common your insulin need almost doubles when you're sick. Why that is i dont know, but even my ordinary doctor knows this to be true, and it is. Try knocking it down with Rapid as adjusting your slow acting insulin is risky. Once you get well again your need should normalize.

    injections at work

Lets be fair also. Its only a risk if you put your stuff on the toiletboard/sink and dont wash your hands before testing or injecting. Common sense gets you a long way in general.

Over testing - is there such a thing?

**** that's by far a worse situation than being a fullblown diabetic - mine was diagnosed after about 10 days iirc. Losing 25 pounds in less than 2 weeks in fluid and fat was a good pointer lol. It really tires the body something fierce going high and dipping low constantly. I **** well hope...

    Managing blood sugar with alcohol

In the same boat as whisky lovers. Any manner really...can't distinguish the palate of an 7£ Aldi bottle to that of a 20yo Glenlivet  Cola goes great with whisky too imo.

Over testing - is there such a thing?

Ouch yeah im lucky living in DK. High taxes but things like lancets, syringes and test cartridges are free. Tbh I only swap them out maybe every other day too but thats outta lazyness  Just out of curiousity - have you tried a a lighter (less deep) setting on the...

Over testing - is there such a thing?

Well I dont have problems with the tiny pricks (from the lancet! ), but theres always a little mark for a day or two. One thing you can do right after testing is wipe the finger with an alcohol wipe or desinfect-gel. You'll always introduce a bit of contamination on penetration and this...

Over testing - is there such a thing?

The only downside I see to overtesting is possibly forgetting to listen to the signals your body gives you. I'd say if you utterly relinquish control to figures on your meter, that's when diabetes is in control of you instead of you of it. For my own part I can usually feel it as soon as in...

    going backwards

I didn't realise you're type 2, I selfishly assumed it was type 1  I can't honestly give you any advice on how to deal with the recent bg changes...zero experience with type 2. I really do hope someone can even though the answer might be many-fold. Regardless of which, soldier on

    going backwards

Hey Andy My first thought is that between 3-5mmol, which your bg initially was, is borderline hypo and leaves very little headroom for eventualities. Were you generally feeling well with bg at 3-5 or were you often dizzy/tired/moody or unable to think properly? What im thinking is, unless you...
