    Thrush caused by taking Canaglifozin

As the title says, seems taking a new (to me) medication has caused Thrush. I will speak to my diabetes nurse but I need to understand what my options are here as the medication appears to work really well but all that glucose shedding in my urine is going to cause a challenge long term as I...

    Is all Metformin the same?

I have been T2 diabetic for about 6 years now. Luckily I have been able to effectively control this with diet & 500mg of Metformin in the morning and another in the evening before my meal The last couple of months my sugars have been poor, no matter how well I avoided carbs or how hard I would...

    Metformin tablet size

Does anybody know if you can get Metformin in 250mg tablets. I have been taking 500mg tablets twice a day, with breakfast and before my evening meal for the last 5 years. I started playing about recently and splitting the tablets so they are spread throughout the day, before each of my 3 main...

    Off metformin!!

Did your B12 injections sort the memory issues? My memory has been ruined since my diagnosis and starting on 1000mg Metformin/day just over a year ago. Not where I want to be with my 1Ac yet, its at 50 mol/mol, so I can't knock it on the head yet but I want to be off it in 6-12 months if I can.

Thanks Anna. Having a small piece of bread before bed (rather than nothing after my evening meal) tends to make them more stable but 6 is as low as I seem to be able to achieve. Given my HBa1C is almost where it needs to be I am not too concerned but I would like to lower it as I don't see how I...

Err - Hello! &... Impact of Metformin on blood sugar levels

Err - Hello! &... Impact of Metformin on blood sugar levels

It will take some time, I don't think I can go cold turkey!. Before I knock the spam fritter butties on the head I might have to wean myself off having them on wholegrain rolls. Thankfully I don't have a sweet tooth so eliminating sugary foods is doddle. Thinking about carbs more and portion...

Err - Hello! &... Impact of Metformin on blood sugar levels

I guess you are right. I didn't get a belly from eating apples! shedding a stone or so whilst challenging won't be that difficult, if I need to get my BMI to 'healthy' then that is going to be hard. Not been 12 stone since I was 20 - thats 20 years ago!
