Liked your comments it gave me a little chuckle which came as a refreshing change for me!
How long have you been diabetic and how often do you inject or are you on the pump. This is one of my first replies to someone's introduction. So hopefully you be able to make light of a horrible illness that totally gets me down, hope for a reply from you or anyone else on this forum

Hi,
I worked all my life as a skilled machinist, mostly at Rolls Royce Aerospace in Bristol, later, in Hucknall, Notts. I'm retired now, the workplace is a far cry from my time as an apprentice and I'm glad to leave it. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about 5 years ago and it's well managed with Metformin and an hour's walk most days, although I suspect that I have the start of peripheral neuropathy, I'm seeing my clinic's diabetic clinician next week, so I'll see. As for answering the set questions, here goes :-

My name is Ruth. I'm not IT savvy enough to copy all the questions and answer them!
I have been on the edge of diabetes for a few yrs and fell off the cliff/was diagnosed T2 about a year ago.

My husband had diabetes and through bad management (his own & medics) developed major complications inc neuropahty,amputation of toes and other leg below knee, retinopathy , kidney problems etc etc. Went to meet his maker 6yrs ago.

You'd think I would have heeded the warnings, but ............. any way here I am having just found this forum.

I'm wanting to follow the Newcastle diet or similar but having trouble persuading the medics who put me straight on to metformin even though I was only just over the cut off point when first diagnosed. Also they are pushing me VERY hard to take statins, but I'm refusing. (Cholesterol 5.6 but bad ratio of "good/bad").

I'm a creative person, love painting, crafts, singing etc. None of which are particularly physical, so I'm trying to up my exercise.

I'm a Christian, ( faith filled NOT religeous) and I try to live my life according to God's rules for living.

I enjoy life as much as I can and want to do so as long as possible!

My name is Mike and I am husband to Pat, who was diagnosed T2 about 6 years ago. It was controlled okay with Metformin SR, but after her diabetes nurse left 3years ago, no-one did much to monitor her and they messed up her other tablets which caused kidney damage, and so she was taken off Metformin and put on other diabetes tablets but they really did not work. We got a new nurse recently and she is now on Toujeo insulin. She has arthritis and a cataract in her one good eye, so I do the BG tests and the injection.
I am struggling at times, so I get a bit angry with life. I try to keep up my old sports and hobbies, but some are falling by the wayside. I am slowly getting to understand more about diabetes but still need more.
