Didn't actually see the specialist this time, just the resident, but these are the latest results.
Last A1c level was 5.7 about 4 months ago.
New level is 5.4 and next appt is in 6 months.
I was a bit surprised it had dropped a little, but wasn't complaining either. No issues for me to talk about or mention at the appointment. The resident stated the 5.4 was too good and that I was having lots of hypos. I haven't had a lot of a hypos, last one was 3 weeks ago. I can go up to 6 weeks without having one. There seems to be an assumption that a low A1c or what they consider low must mean you are having hypos left and right. I'm sure that is true for some, but also not true for others.
Being a long term prednesalone user, (I'm a double lung transplant recipient) I do keep a close eye on those levels, the concern for me isn't too low, but making sure levels don't get too high post meals. Especially when the effect of the humalog wears off after 2hrs. Levels can spike rapidly past that time. So, it's a bit of a management battle for me to watch that and keep under some control.
Blood results came back good, perfectly healthy kidney function. Unaffected by diabetes after about 15 years of it.
So, the appointment went well. I'm pretty happy with the results. Will stick with the low carb approach after 7 or 8 years of doing so. Hope everyone is having some success also.
