Glucose monitor

Hi all , pre diabetic , 3 weeks since diagnosis , but out carbs and excess sugars , lost a stone now need to start monitoring properly . Anyone recommend a good blood glucose meter please , thanks Malc.

I got my first reader, TEE2 from Spirit Healthcare (1.5 month use) and just trying out Freestyle Libre from Abbott. Just installed.
Obviously, I have little experience. Very few wasted test strips. I keep forgetting to set the fasting/before food/after food flags on the TEE2. Haven't installed the software yet but have the cable.
Libe comes with graphs already.
As recommended on here, I am also logging my TEE2 results in MySugr app.

Personally I found the TEE2 quite adequate. All I really need is fasting BG and again 2hrs after each meal, until I found out how the different carbs affect me. I don't use any other features.
Others are OK with the SD CodeFree which has comparable prices for both Meter and test Strips.

I was given the freestyle optium neo which takes both normal and ketone strips really like it, it’s compact and does the job

Some feel they are not accurate.. or not as accurate as more expensive meters

BUT the meet the same standards.. and my partner has one and it works perfectly well which is why I suggested it
