I have been using Omnipod 5 and Libre 2+ Closed for several months now and am having real issues maintaining Line of sight unless I place both the pod and sensor on my arm. My arms are beginning to suffer with having both pod and sensor on one side for 15 days

I have tried my tummy, leg and my back and have found the pod and sensor spent a lot of time not connected.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know Libre 2+ are only supposed to be placed on your arm

I'm resigned to arms. I manage, its reliable but towards the 15 day sensor period it's getting tricky with pod sites though.
I do change pods every 48-60 hrs, they rarely last 72hrs.

I position the sensor the sensors about 1/2 way up the triceps, that way I can use space above and below for pod sites. Topping and tailing pod sites helps as does an elasticated fabric band to protect all the kit and secure it in place.

Thankyou for your reply. My arms are getting quite sore. Maybe come time that will improve. I will try your suggest ion on positioning to see if that helps

It is not very often that I have to change my pods before the 3 days are up. I changed my pod and sensor this morning. It felt really good to get them off

Thanks again

I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions but I feel your (literal!) pain. I find injecting in my arms really painful so would never use it as a pod site through choice, but have lots of disconnection issues anywhere else. So I now have to choose between painful injections or missed readings.

I’m hoping that either they approve Libre for other sites, or they improve the range on the Bluetooth, or they get funding for Dexcom in my area. But I don’t expect any of these any time soon!

Thanks for your reply. Maybe Libre will get approved for use on other areas although they do seem to take their time over making any changes

Following the latest upgrade on Omnipod 5 it will now link with Dexcom 7 so perhaps changes are afoot

Thanks again

I think the issue with putting the libre on your stomach is not necessarily whether it will work (disclaimer I have no idea) but if it doesn't work then Abbott won't replace it.

There is an interesting thread here

Thanks for your reply. Interesting thread as you say

There was a recent update for Omnipod 5 which means it now links with dexcom 7. Being able to use Dexcom would mean more flexibility in placement of your sensor and pod

Thanks again
