Simplera

I was upgraded to the medtronic 780 pump earlier this year but as there are problems with the simplera my pump has remained at the hospital. This was OK until my existing pump died ☹️. So the hospital have given me my new pump so I can use it without simplera and stick with my freestyle libre sensors for now.

However, this totally misses the point of the upgrade! It appears there is nothing on the medtronic website about what the actual issue is.... In fact it doesn't even allude to the fact there is an issue. Has anyone been told anything as to how long this is issue is going to continue for?

As per the email I received about a software upgrade to use simplera it’s a manufacturing issue, seems they can’t keep up with the demand. There’s no real information on how long the wait could be for them to get things moving again and Medtronic aren’t very forthcoming with information on how long the delay will be.

Could you possibly ask if your hospital can approve funding for a Guardian 4 in the mean time whilst you wait?

Simplera being new doesn't have as much manufacturing as the older stuff does

There has been shortages of simplera so they are concentrating on supplying existing users rather than bringing on new users

My last batch was sent to me in 3 packages

Bigotry, reliance on unsupported 'facts', unkindness, unfairness.
Today, the FDA approved simplera for use in the US so I begin to wonder if this will be an ongoing issue here in the U.K.

It's approved but Medtronic won't start issuing them until this fall(sept) onwards and then only to new pump users

They simply have to ramp up production it's happened in the past with libre and dexcom
