What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all on the start of Easter Hols in L.A.. Right now four grandchildren, JKP and I are watching a film. Two slept over and #1 son delivered the other two this morning. My fbg at 5.32 pm was 4.9. @SlimLizzy some good news at last, I'm happy for you. Sunday lunch went well. The next part is what I started to type yesterday but failed to complete as family arrived. "At the risk of derailing the thread ... No misunderstanding @Pipp, I know what saltmarsh lamb is having eaten it. I was unimpressed but at least the chef served it pink." The leg of lamb yesterday made for a splendid Sunday lunch - 4.9 start 4.9 2 hrs later. Peace be with you all.
 
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentleman and those yet to reset their time pieces.

Blood sugars this morning were 10.9

If I were to tell you what I was doing this morning I would be breaking a confidence, but after not driving for approximately a year apart from a few short trips I drove 74 miles, mostly motorway miles, now to drive that sort of distance on A and B roads.

Now it’s time for my afternoon nap, bye bye.
 
6.6 at 03.15 today. Still in the 6's almost 4 hours later but I've only had one cup of tea so far with another to hand as I write. That might change things.

Our new router arrived in the post yesterday and I was astonished to see that it was a pre-used one. Checking back with Amazon I saw that the description did say "used mint". It was in small, faint text and I had missed it. As had Neil. It was a bit cheaper than on other websites, but only by about £5 and that was the cost of postage and packing. Normally delivery charges on Amazon are covered by my Prime membership, but not always and not on this. Well, if it is mint condition, I'll keep it.

Not quite so straightforward. There was a password to set the router up, printed on the base but someone had changed it. There were no cables to attach it to anything other than the power and there were no instructions.

Luckily, Neil had an appropriate cable amongst all the bits and pieces he collects and he could attach it to my pc and get into "the works" and change the password back to the original. Took about 45 minutes once he'd figured out how.

All that and it still won't hold onto a connection with our house phone. Neil will be investigating today to try to find out why but if he can't find an answer, I think the darned thing will have to be returned.

Am pleased to report that Son2 has had his final operation and been released from hospital. He won't be allowed to drive for six months and exercise will be severely curtailed. Its going to be a time of adjustment for him.
MrSlim has arrived and we are returning to France in a few days time.

5.5 yesterday and 5.9 today.
On Sunday we went to NT 's Blickling Hall for the first time since September. It was lovely to visit but next time I will check that they are not holding a half marathon when we went it was quite chaotic.

Yesterday it wrote exercise sheets and sent them out to all class members as they do like stuff to do over the hols. At least some of them do :) :)

Sorry, but lots going on appointments at 10:00am, 11:30 and finally 13:50
I feel I’m lucky to have such a hectic life, I shall smile tell appropriate jokes, make wise cracks and hope not to suffer from flatulence.
 
Good morning everyone from what was until a few minutes ago a wonderfully silent start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.7 this a.m. and that included a hot cross bun consumed yesterday afternoon.

Cataract Clinic this afternoon for a quote to get eye one of two replaced by a more high tech yet fraught with fake imagery lens. Deep joy, break out the sunglasses and brace for eye watering dilation fluids.

Art bit - w - just a few leaves.

Hope you day is a good one, mine is panning out very well and the sun has now burst forth in agreement.

Morning all from L.A. where March 2026 is going out with a grey chilly day. My fbg was 4.7 according to Libre. @alf_Josiah I hope those appointments go smoothly for all concerned. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art and I hope the Cataract clinic goes well. @Annb I hope the router can be made to hold serious, productive talks with the phone. @Krystyna23040 time for a break? JKP has swollen lips which look somewhat like poor botox but no Drs appointment available until April 14th :arghh: We are off on a tour of East Anglian air bases - West Suffolk to Cambs (Old Hunts) for a meal with friends of 50 years. Peace be with you all.

EDIT: Today's package from Amazon will have to be returned as well. It was a plant stand which looked strong enough to hold quite a few pots, in the picture, but in fact is pretty flimsy and has instructions with it which refer to bits that are not there - or perhaps it is that the English is so bad as to give a false impression. Not sure, but it's no use to me anyway. Amazon is going to get fed up with my family, although they don't know that we are all connected. My brother tells me that just about everything he has ordered from Amazon recently has had to be returned for one reason or another. Maybe they are getting too big for their boots and getting slipshod as a result.

Morning all on a chilly start to April in L.A. I may have mentioned in passing that I don't enjoy any weather which isn't of the phew, what a scorcher kind. Fbg of 4.6 here. JKP's lips are not yet normal but look less like Botox done by the work experience gel. The meet up with friends yesterday was enjoyed by all. Many of you will have to acquaint yourselves with the new domestic recycling regime. Here in West Suffolk June is the new April. I found the attached guide useful. Enjoy your day, I need tea.

Just had a bit of a tussle with the Amazon Customer Service site but eventually got onto their Real Live Person Chat. Postie arrived this morning to pick up the package but didn't have a label for it - nor did I! Amazon said the postie would have it. Problem was, it was a Market Place seller - not Amazon itself. I hope it's solved now.

BG was 8.8 at 02.15 today. Bed about midnight, hence the early wakening. Been pretty groggy ever since but am trying to wake myself up now. BG just dropped to 3.3 so I'm chomping on an oat biscuit (Nature Valley Oat and Honey) as I write. I find them very useful when BG needs a boost - almost as good as a can of sweetened coffee.
 
It took the can of coffee to fix BG in the end. And then took an hour dozing in the chair to recover.

The plumber arrived to look at our shower this afternoon. It is one of those disabled showers - practical but ugly. It was put in years ago when my husband was having to be showered in a wheelchair (supplied by the local community). When Tom died, the man who came to take the wheelchair back managed to damage the door to the shower - just a tiny part of the door hinge knocked off and broken and we have been trying for years to get that part to fix it. Meantime we have just been wedging the door in place. Anyway, we finally decided to ask a plumber if he could get the part. He came and had a look but thinks it is too old and he can't identify a part that would fix it. He reckons we need a new shower cubicle. All for a tiny bit, about one inch long and worth maybe 50p! These days I need a disabled shower, so can't just put in an ordinary one which would be available in town.

My day, once I got out of the front door started with a trip to B & Q for more wood and sundry items, it seems that word has got around that I am starting, as much as able do some wood working, instead of just two children’s bench seats, which I wrote about in a previous post I now have 3 bench seats to make and a table to make. Luckily this keeps me off the streets and out of Mrs J’s way.

On the subject of Mrs J, Mrs J has completed the third of four bird paintings which I will attempt to post in the next day or so.

Your broken hinge, have you somebody on your island who can make one or laser print one in plastic, the loadings on the hinge are not high, therefore plastic might be strong enough.

Apparently not @alf_Josiah. Neil has been trying to find someone for years without success.

Talking of blood, I expect my blood will flow later this morning when Mrs J notices how I have hung her washing out on the washing line, Mrs J has a way of pegging the washing, give me quantum mechanics any day, washing line protocol, nah…..

Now koffy is calling, have the best day you possibly can, a smile costs nothing, so get your smiles in before some enterprising chancellor slaps a tax on smiling.

Now four koffy.
 
6.0 at 02.10 today. Still in the 6's at the moment, but I've just had breakfast so it may not last.

Leg day today. Rain threatened in the forecast but bright sunshine now.

Neil has finally finished adapting my recliner chair so that it is high enough to make for easier standing instead of it being a riser/recliner. Makes a big difference.

So far, although I have a stool to go in the shower, I've never used it and it has just sat alongside the shower holding towels. Today I have realised that the time has come to actually use the stool for its proper purpose. I'll just need to find something else to hold the towels. Actually, while we're looking at doing something with the shower, I might think of getting one of those fold-down seats - if the wall will take my weight!
