What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good to hear progress, even if slow is being made @Lamont D

Not the same, but I found while a visitor was nice (I was the other side of London, not a nice journey for family )

The thing I did enjoy more was just a call, someone speaking about daily life that wasn't all "how are you " driven.

I wonder if you have managed to talk via phone to Mrs L yet ?

Like the others on here, wishing all the best. Hoping for a continuing recovery that gets you where you want to be asap .

Best wishes fella.

Fbg to follow, in bed & chasing up meds that haven't been approved, as yet...ggrrr.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who……insert your preference here.

Blood sugars this morning were 9.6

We have friends from up’t norf staying till Monday he is a fellow motorcyclist and his wife is long suffering, he was a champion body builder and these days tests the testers for the advanced driving and riding groups IAM and RoSPA. They are both really good company and the laughter was free flowing till midnight.

Our task today is today is to avoid going to a garden centre with the ladies, we can stay here in Tilehurst Towers, talk motorbikes and reminisce about various rides we have been on

Well have the best day you can, smile and something or other.

Good morning to you all. My fbs this morning was 10.7
Since my last post I have been seen by the specialist Diabetes service who provided me with a new meter as mine was out -dated and my test results could be inaccurate. I was also advised to apply for a free trial of Freestyle Libre 2 and was fitted with it on 20th April. It was good not having to prick my fingers for a while and it was interesting to see the effects of other factors as well as food. Unfortunately, despite being very careful, the adhesive dried up on one side recently and the sensor stopped working so I had to remove it -so back to finger pricking.:arghh: I am now deciding whether to purchase another sensor or to be satisfied with the info. obtained so far. They seem very expensive for only 2 weeks information. I have reported that the sensor didn't last for the specified length of time but I don't expect them to replace it as it was on free trial. I have been checking in regularly to follow you all and send my best wishes to everyone. :)

6.1 for me today.

Good to see you back posting, @dogslife. I would push for a replacement sensor if I were you. Also , you could request a free trial of the Dexcom sensors?

re the finger stabbing method. Are you using an adjustable lancet tool, set at the minimum level? I use the Accuchek FastClix, and aim for the side of my fingers, as this causes minimal, if any, discomfort.

8.9 today at 03.30. Down a bit to 8.3 but then, up again with breakfast (too carby). Currently 13.4 - I think I forgot to take insulin as well as having a carby breakfast. Must do something about that. After I've finished this cup of coffee.

Today is the day. It has come at last! Freezer defrosting day. I've managed to reduce the contents of the big freezer sufficiently to empty it into the big fridge and the 2 small freezers. I'll have to sort out what's there and dump things I don't want/won't use as it all gets replaced.

Been trying to catch up on my writing project yesterday and today. I thought I had all the parts and it just had to be pulled together, but I've realised that I am missing a whole section. I certainly worked it out, but obviously didn't write it down, even in note form. Never mind, I know what has to be written at least, so should be able to get that done in a day or two more. Then, of course, a very strict edit by me before sending it off to my friend who will either edit again, or comment on where it doesn't hold up. After that, a publisher, I hope, and they will have a go at deciding on its merits.

EDIT: 17.03 - freezer defrosted, reorganised and refilled. Not quite so refilled as it was filled before the procedure. It hasn't looked so ice-free and tidy in ages.

Thank you@Pipp for your kind words and advice. I have messaged Freestyle about a replacement sensor already but I will look into the Dexcom free trial. I think it involves getting a prescription from the GP but I'm not sure. Yes I do use an adjustable lancet tool and always use the sides of my fingers. It's good to be able to post here again now that I have fbs to add. I am waiting for a follow up appointment with the Diabetes service armed with my testing results but am told it will probably not be until July or later. Best wishes. :)

5.4 this morning.

We took Bonnie to our little market town for training . We visited Starbucks and I succumbed to a rather delicious lemon tart.

Bonnie was really good in Starbucks and laid down beside us.

She is getting less scared of mobility scooters. The special treat every time we saw one is working really well.

8.9 at 05.00 today. Look at that! 05.00. I know it was 02.00 before I went to bed (got stuck into the writing and couldn't stop until a situation was resolved) but even so - that's 3 hours, and then I dozed off again after half an hour until 07.00. Total of 51/2 hours. Very good for me. The only trouble is I'm still kind of dozey. I was going to do some cooking to recover stuff from the freezer that I allowed to defrost yesterday and I was going to tackle one of the small freezers. That was the plan for today. I don't think it is going to happen.

Hello again. My fbs this morning was 9.1. using my new meter. Anything under 10 is fine by me as I take some of my diabetes medication before and after breakfast so not much of a rise. I had a message this afternoon saying Free Style Libre are sending me a replacement sensor for the one that failed. One interesting result whilst using the sensor was that my blood sugars rose in the early hours whilst I was in bed asleep despite being OK at bedtime and not eating after 8pm and then only a small snack. I wondered whether adrenaline during anxious/ stressful dreams may have an effect?? Is this possible or are there any other reasons? Any thoughts? Best wishes to you all. :)

My BG is often higher in the morning than it was the night before. It seems to depend on the starting point. If it is high, say above 9, when I go to bed, it is likely to be around 10 or so when I get up but if it is around 7 when I go to bed, it is likely to be in the 4's or low 5's when I get up. Not that I sleep for very long, of course; 2 or 3 hours is my limit before I have to get out of my bed and take painkillers (and move my stiff limbs). Some mornings, if I sleep a bit longer my Libre wakes me with the information that my BG is too low - in the 3's.

As is often said - we are all different. I don't tend to get stressed about anything but I imagine a bad dream might affect your stress levels and, therefore, your BG. High stress tends to equal high BG, or lead to it.

Having said that, I used to have bad dreams of suffocating. That was stressful. Never thought to check my BG though. I was too busy being thankful that I was alive and awake.;)

I did force myself to do some cooking - the defrosted food would have been wasted otherwise. Now I have several pots of soup, a tub of pork and beans, a portion of sausage casserole and some pork koftas in onion gravy to find homes for - back into the big freezer, I suppose, once they ave all cooled down sufficiently.

5.9 this morning

The lovely lemon tart yesterday didn't affect my fbg. I was dreading this morning, but needn't have worried about it after all.

Today has been a mixture of catching up with admin, relaxing and reading and walking Bonnie.

I have kept on the straight and narrow today and have been careful what I ate.

BG at some stage this morning was 8.2, then 7.5, now in the 6's. Not sure when the night started/ended and the day started.

The horrific pain that my shoulder and arm suffered a few weeks ago (inflammation) came back to haunt me but this time in my foot and ankle. I couldn't lay down, stand up, stand on the other leg. I found the least painful position was sitting on my office chair with my foot flat on the floor. Painkillers didn't work and I was considering digging out the morphine that I still have from my previous problem. After 4 hours I just took more painkillers and, thank goodness, it started to ease. I still can't flex my ankle or wiggle my toes, but the pain is nowhere near as bad. My back is somewhat less than happy, having stayed vertical most of the night, but some more painkillers shortly will probably deal with that. Too long on my feet yesterday, doing all that cooking, I suppose.

Good evening. My fbs this morning was 10.9 after a disturbed night. This afternoon was my 3 monthly dentists appointments which involved a check up with my new dentist followed by my regular hygienist appointment which needed anesthetic injections as my back teeth are very sensitive. I now have a very sore mouth and a filling to look forward to as I have a crack in one of my right molars which involves removing an old filling. :arghh: Just hoping my mouth has recovered in time for tonight's quiz as we have to quietly voice our answers to the one who scribes them and at the moment I am still slurring my words. LOL Have a good rest of the day. :)
