What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

It will be something high. Lots of carbs, energy drinks, just to get me through the long days at hospital... even sweet stuff... hugely stressed...

I go and test it... 6.8! Somebody make that make sense...

this morning 5.6 blood glucose libre thinks 4.9.

libre been fairly good <6 usually blood glucose always a little higher approx 0.5 out this time around. exception last weeks appt, fairly stressful woke up to 7.4. alarm went off for high several hours later during meeting despite zero food intake, started to settle down several hours after appt finished find it puzzling that stress can have huge impact just how from 7.4 to 13+ without anything other than sugar free flavoured water i dont understand.

get well soon @Patrick66

Hello mates,
At a couple of the other forums I've frequented there was a thread like this one where we all sorta checked in each day, with our first cup of coffee or tea, and reported our fasting or waking blood glucose level and some short comment about whether we're ok with it or if not - why not?...

It worked well as a sort of 'first thread to check' each morning and post to.

I'll start.

This morning was a 5.6mmol for me. That's about normal for me

What about you?
12.5 for me and not usual??

10.3 at 6.45am :(

I've only been testing for just about 2 weeks. I was denied a meter/strips and discouraged from testing ! No medication (yet, but will be I'm told) still waiting to attend DESMOND.

i had 2 Ryvita with cheese and 2 digestives at 10pm.

This is the highest morning reading yet.

I'm discovering that I can't even eat a little something 9- 10pm anymore with my readings being about min 7.5 and 9.5 in the mornings  I have no clue what to do as I'm sometimes at the gym so don't get home until 8.30pm...
Hi I’m a type 2 as well and really struggling to get the blood sugars under control. I self fund CGM and that gives me great insights but now I’m finding sugar levels are higher than normal even though I’m making a real effort to cut the carbs. I’m at a loss as to what is happening. Regards Chim

Now here's a little puzzle for ya.

I went out with family yesterday to celebrate daughter's 21st birthday. Both she and I are diabetic and she has other issues (see previous posts).
I had chicken curry and pilau rice and saag aloo (spinach and potato) and she had chicken biriyani.

My bs this morning was 9.2, exactly the same as it was yesterday and daughter's was 10.3 (big reduction on the 13's and 14's she has had recently!).

Nope, I can't figure it out!

Just wanted to add that I can fully understand the moderator's concern that this thread stays friendly. I have noted posts to newbies that have more or less been hijacked by individuals who want to get their point across and don't seem to care how (or where) they do it. It's good to remember just how confusing and frightening all this can be for someone newly diagnosed..I'm just starting to feel less nervous now and I have been diagnosed for a month!

I think this thread has a feel good factor about it, nobody passing judgement on anyone else no matter what the figures are so I doubt very much if the mods need have concerns.

Look forward to checking in tomorrow. :-)
Hi, I have been diagnosed several years and did not take medication; just diet seemed to do the trick. Now I’m on Invokana and whilst the first ten days seemed good now it nots so good with persistent high readings that I cannot get down. If I eat half a piece of bread my cgm will read 15+ I could not have eaten a curry nor had any rice!! Help!!
