What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.4 this morning.

I was dreading the course today as the course notes were so complex but luckily the teacher was brilliant and the course was nothing like the dry academic notes. Also there were only 2 of us on the course, which has never happened before and the teacher was able to tailor it to our needs.

Everything was relevant to my teaching. Also there was an option to get AI to summarise the 6 hours of today's course which it did in 5 superb pages.

Am exhausted now but really looking forward to continuing the course tomorrow.

6.2 at 01.30 today. Pills, coffee and a doze in the chair later at 04.15 it was 5.2. Still only 6.6 after moving around a bit. I never know which reading is the FASTING BG but today it doesn't make much difference.
Chilly, damp, overcast and windy here today. The forecast says between 9 and 12 degrees, thundery showers and 8mph breeze. My trees and I beg to differ. Temperature isn't 9C yet, trees are blowing around showing a bit more than 8 mph. Showers is right enough. I'm still cold anyway even though my temperature is 36.4 - one decimal point up on my normal. Time to go and get my poncho.

6.0 at 03.20 today.

Today should be the day when our main fuse box is replaced with a new one - the old one is mostly plastic and fairly worn out, so a new metal one is going in. That means the house being without power for 3 or 4 hours and it isn't a warm day. Big woolly poncho again, I guess. And I must remember to keep the recliner chair in its upright position.

6.5 this morning.
I am afraid that yesterday's special treat morphed into 3 special treats. I think that l was so tired that willpower and common sense went out of the window.

Back on the straight and narrow today. Classes going very well in Norwich. Now just the evening classes to do.

It's just after 8pm and the power has just come back on. I did a few things before the house got too cold and I just felt too cold to carry on despite the extra layers. I spent most of the last 4 hours wrapped in a big fleece jacket and a blanket, in the big chair. The 3 or 4 hour job turned out to be a 7 hour job. Don't they always?

6.2 at 02.35 today. Rose to 8.1 before breakfast for no apparent reason.

DIL is looking good these days and tells me she is feeling much better than in the past. She puts this down to Sitagliptin tablets that she has been taking recently. I imagine that's as an alternative to Mountjaro, which is apparently not easy to get hold of. I was thinking I might talk to my diabetes nurse about it but have just looked it up online and it seems to be bad for someone with liver problems, so maybe not.

Good morning everyone from a breezy start to this unique Thursday in the dark and dangerous north.

5.8 this a.m.
All the panels have been removed from the covered driveway and we are making a start on refurbishing the wooden frame - some parts need wood stabiliser and then some filler. Will anything get done today or will rain stop play? Who knows, there is no rush and in any case my left hand seizes up after about an hour and left knee is getting all mardy and petulant about going up and down ladders. If they were my children there would be withdrawal of pocket money until they learned to stop complaining.

Off to France on Sunday to see my mother for a few days so looking forward to some decent fish dishes, Salade chaude aux gésiers and other tasty treats.

Hope your day is a kind one. I shall make koffy and enjoy the remaining silence of this morning until the day gets going.

7.6 at 02.10 today.
Not long back from town - legs nicely bandaged again. Neil took the opportunity to take a whole car-load of cardboard boxes to the recycling plant on the road south from Stornoway (about 14 miles from where we are). Usually Alistair does this when he takes stuff to be recycled but he can't do it any more with the problems he has with his neck and shoulders. We should have thought to ask if he needed us to take any stuff for him, but it was a last minute decision to go. Our hallway was nicely clear of cardboard boxes for an hour or so. Then a courier arrived with a big box of soya milk cartons so the new pile has started already.
I did plan to go to one of our two electrical shops to look at replacement fridges, but Neil's trip to the recycling plant took quite a while and, by the time he'd done the shopping as well, we just needed to get home. Next week, maybe.

Good morning all. Fbs this morning was 10.4. No test results yesterday as after 5 failed attempts using the same lancet I discovered the needle was bent! I gave up after that as my breakfast was going cold! I've received an appointment from the diabetes service which falls 10 weeks since my last HbA1c test. I'm wondering whether to ask my GP centre if I can have my next HbA1c test 2 weeks early to provide info in time for my appointment. Best wishes to you for the coming weekend. :)

9.4 at 03.15 today. 9.0 now but it has been down into the 7's in between.

Tried to get into a meeting using google meet last evening. Tablet wasn't having it at all when I eventually tried it. First I tried to use my desktop PC with my recently purchased camera and microphone. I actually did get into the meeting, but they couldn't hear me (camera was fantastic though) and when everyone else joined the only sound I could get was broken up and sounded as though they were all swimming, or drowning. Had to give up. I had a similar problem with Zoom with the PC. At least the tablet will let me use Zoom. I have to conclude that the problem is not my PC, but is our broadband, which won't be upgraded any time soon. I am going to try my PC again with Zoom this evening for another meeting but I have little hope that it will work.

5.7 this morning.
Took Bonnie into our little market town for some more training. She is improving but is still a little bit scared of bicycles and mobility scooters.

As we were walking through the town centre a huge and very noisy cement mixer lorry slowly drove past us. She was absolutely ok with that and wasn't at all scared of it - which makes no sense whatsoever.

It is sensible - you just have to think dog. Obviously she is okay with loud noise from an obvious vehicle. But mobility stuff hisses and squeaks and moves erratically - and so do dog enemies.

7.9 at 02.15 today.

4 hours of half price electricity today, so it is bed stripping and washing day today. I've stripped mine but ran out of steam before I got it made. Must remember to get back to that before bed time. Unfortunately, now that Neil has a problem with his neck and shoulders (not quite as bad as Alistair, but similar), he can't help much with that kind of job. Same applies with both Alistair and DIL - all three have similar conditions. So, bit by bit, I have to manage it myself.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.2

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman and those don’t function without tea and followed by koffy in the morning.

I’ve not posted for a few day and unfortunately not caught up with all the posts, I’m not looking for forgiveness, but I was preparing myself for yesterdays major surgery.
Mrs J trimmed my beard and cut my hair without anaesthetic, Mrs J had been talking about this horrendous ordeal for a few days, forewarning me, there was no escape. I wasn’t tied to the chair of torture, her glare was frightening enough!

Have the best day you can, smile and if you find a postman remember to bark at them.
