What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.7 at 05.00 today. Looks as though I had a good long sleep last night but, actually, I got involved with my writing project that I have been trying to finish off for weeks now. It's a complicated story and I keep finding that I've mixed the sequence up so I've had to sort iŧ all out. Then, last night I found that I had repeated a chapter, saving one of them on top of a previous chapter. 2 chapter 4's and no chapter 3. Aargh! So now I have to rework chapter 3. I don't know how I did that. Anyway, I only got to bed at 02.00 and couldn't get to sleep until about 03.00. so it was still just a 2 hour night.

Off shortly for my clinic appointment for blood test, ECG and leg rebandaging. Just finishing this cup of coffee and I'll get my socks and shoes on.

6.9 at 03.30 today.

Although we didn't see any lightening or hear any thunder, we lost power for a few hours last night. I was just at the beginning of a Zoom meeting when our island and Skye lost power completely. My battery back-up kept it going for a short time, but, while others, on the mainland, had no problem all of us islanders were in disarray. During the night we did have a fair bit of lightening, but no thunder, and we lost power again. When I came through at 03.30 the TV had turned itself on (I have to leave it on standby because I can't reach the on/off switch). I was wondering, briefly, who was chatting away in the kitchen. Didn't realise that a power surge could make it come on of its own accord.

7.8 at 03.45 today.

Suffering after my outing yesterday to a friend's funeral. It was a lovely funeral but a huge effort which will take me a day or so to recover from. No more funerals for me, I think - just that one final one, of course, but I won't be putting any great effort into that one.

Today has to be a day of rest. No option.

Blood sugars this morning were 4.8, a trifle low for me, me’s and myself, I should point out other puddings are available from all good post offices?

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman, I hope you are all staying cool and safe, this weather is glorious, dangerous, but glorious, here in Tilehurst Towers Mrs J and myselves are following all the advice from the wise ones. The Dandy and Beano are such useful sources of information.

Now, must, away I be, a tie to choose, shirt and trousers etc for a surprise event I have found out about…..

Glad to hear you are enjoying the good , if dangerous, weather. Here, I have just decided to go back into big winter jumpers (a thick cable knit, polo neck today).

Good afternoon all. Woke up at 3am feeling like an ice lolly melting off it's stick! LOL Very thirsty/ shaky. Suspecting a hypo I made my way to the kitchen for a drink of water and to test blood sugars which were 9.9. After washing my face with cold water I managed to settle off to sleep. Thankfully the temperature is predicted to get cooler tomorrow. Keep cool if you can and take care everyone.

Neil has found some information about a drug called ATR-258. It is supposed to promote the efficacy of insulin and so, glucose control.
Has anyone heard anything about this new drug? What I have found seems to indicate that it has been shown to be effective in humans but I can't see anything about it being made available.

It is xtil! Humid in the stalag. There is a undercurrent of dissatisfied film within cos of contestant best enclosed within the bui?ding just wish I could walk.out like those Trump supporters leaving the festivities 250 years of capitiilisation of the American empire
Summary of the last thirty years of history.......... How come we still sing the br iti itsh anthem at the world cup. Does any one think we could get even close??Been hammering YouTube Nd history Why aren't we covered in u.s bunting?

6.3 this motning

5.2 this morning. Was so pleased that I cancelled yesterday's classes as our temperature here was 37°.

Today I spent the day teaching in my wonderfully cool Norwich venue. Am so lucky it has air con.

After classes we went to a friend's barbecue. I was so good. I didn't eat anything, but did enjoy a lovely coffee with cream.

7.8 at 03.00 today. And rising.

2 cups of coffee so far and 2 lots of painkillers. Mostly due to very sore muscles adding to my normal arthritic soreness. That's what comes of trying to walk on Wednesday. Burnt off some sugar, but not worth the effort, I think. Insulin has the same effect.

It's turned cold here after the balmy temperatures we had (actually got up to 15C a couple of days ago!) but now, although the sun is dispersing the cloud cover, it is very breezy and everywhere has cooled down. Still wearing my winter sweater but adding a shawl to achieve "the layered look" (the cozy but frumpy old lady look).

Blood sugars this morning were 6.1

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those who went parasailing without the para!

As it has been cooler today Mrs J has been showing me how to sweep our lower patio, fortunately me, me’s and myself are a slow learner, the extent of our incompetence knows no limits, with the idiot box remote control and washing machine being totally beyond my comprehension.

Now if knobody minds I might just look on gogle to see if Jack Walker still works in that motel on that midland road junction.

Good afternoon everyone.
5.8 this a.m.
We have had visitors from across the pond. We asked them what they would like to do and see before they came.
List included walking along the coast, Whitby, York, Durham.
Also, and in no particular order, Full English, curry, afternoon tea, various beers.
Well OK. So that’s what we have been including in the sweltering heat. Not as hot as some places I know. My mother recorded 46 in her courtyard on Friday!
Bought a new hat to shelter under from the sun. I might roll my trousers up a bit as I continue to shrink - 2” since a began practicing this new pass time according to strict medical measuring walls - it’s easy to do and expends little energy.
Drove Mrs Miggins to a medical appointment about her eyes today - squirt, squirt, flashes of light from the dreaded slit lamp. She wore dark glasses and a big floppy hat like some film star trying to hide from the lens clickers. Careful progress - my cataracts don’t cooperate much in bright sunshine - what a pair!
Hope you are all as spiffingly well as you can possibly be.

7.9 at 02.15 today. Not great, but better than yesterday.

I have a google meet meeting this morning (family history society) but am having trouble making it work - I think it's my old trouble with bandwidth - my camera and microphone need too much, I think. I have just got into the settings and reduced the definition on the video to see if that will help. Fingers crossed. This is on my desktop PC - the Samsung tablet just won't let me into google meet at all - it just offers me a wikipedia entry for it. Struggling with this techie stuff is making my brain feel fuzzy (is that what they mean by fuzzy logic? ;))

Good morning all. An early HbA1c blood test at lunch time so that the results will be back in time for my appointment with the specialist team on Friday to inform next actions.( ie Insulin or not). My fbs last evening was 8.3 on return from our overnight trip and a light snack then 11.8 at 5.40 am -woken by nasty abdominal pain. :arghh: Enjoy the last day of June as much as you can. Best wishes. :)

Thank you for the song @Annb. Very apt for my location (at least until The Donald has a strop.) My grandson being here took me back to the times he stayed with us as a very young boy and we would spend very early mornings together. Even at 2 years old he knew how to use the Sky remote to get his favourite programmes. His morning order was Camomile tea, and apple cut up with Nutella (had to be the Italian one - his mum's maternal side Italian influence). Peace be with you.
Happy belated birthday Ian x

Blood sugars this morning were 6.3

Good happy as you can be on this not so hot Tuesday afternoon.

Tomorrow we have guests arriving and staying for a few days they are Canadian cousins of Mrs J and live in British Columbia 500miles north of Vancouver, they emigrated to Canada 40+ years ago and when they come back they usually spend a few days with us, Mrs J prepared a few meals, cleaned Tilehurst Towers from top to bottom, I have also helped by keeping well out her way….as a good well meaning husband would.

Time to go said Florence from the ancient telly vision series listen with mother.
