What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Here's hoping all goes well with the MOT. Our Scenic is 22 years old (05 reg) and still seems to be fine. MOT is due in November but I'm hopeful that it will pass. I've spent plenty on it - even just this year - so with any luck it will last another year at least.

BG today at 04.30 was 7.7. 6.1 now after another doze, second lot of painkillers and a cup of tea.

Morning all on World Humanitarian Day 2026. 4.9 here after an oddly warm and low scoring night's sleep. @dogslife I'm glad the weather suits you better and yes, excitement and stress do affect bg levels in my experience. @Annb I hope the Scenic passes the MOT in October. We have two grandchildren here today, one will sleep over to save us waking even earlier tomorrow. My grandson has created/modified the game Risk (hand drawn world map ) and tried to explain the rules to me. I think many degree courses would be far simpler. Cricket to watch today which will be a pleasure :woot: According to AOC Woke 1.0 was crazy and is over but Woke 2.0 will be better: awake arise or be forever fallen :D Peace be with y'all.

I don't really understand about all this Woke stuff. As far as I am concerned, what we need in this world is justice for everyone. For rich for less rich (in a just world, there should be no poor unless that's their choice), for young or old, for healthy or sick, or disabled, for every ethnic origin, for honest or dishonest, for good or bad. That doesn't mean everyone being the same, it just means justice. It might not fix everything, but it would ease quite a lot of society's problems.

Here endeth the umpteenth lesson. ;)

Good morning all. Fbs today was 9.7. Our 17 year old car passed its MOT yesterday. Yeh! The garage kept it overnight to carry out the annual service today and to replace break pads as one was slightly worn so we are still carless until later today. As soon as we are notified that it is ready to collect it involves a mixture of public transport and walking to collect it as it is only a small garage that don't deliver. It is situated near to our old address but we have stayed with them as they have been reliable for years. My husband who is fitter than I am will be doing the collection. Best wishes to all.

Great that your car passed its MOT. I don't know about you, but I'd be lost without my car, out here in the sticks. I'd be lost without my driver too. My eyes are not good enough to drive any more.

7.9 at 04.00 today. Up a bit after breakfast, but I daresay it will go down again shortly.

Legs day today. I don't suppose I'll even attempt much else. It usually knocks me for 6, getting out of the house and into the Health Centre. Breathing is particularly bad since going to the hospital on Tuesday, so that's not a great help. Heigh ho! As my husband used to say 'we never died a winter yet'. Of course, the first time will be the last. (He was always one of those cup half full types. My cup was always half empty.)

Morning all. 4.7 here today on GCSE, BTec and Cambridge Nationals results day 2026. Thoughts, prayers and where appropriate also sharing the joy with youngsters and family. @dogslife good news on the car passing MOT. @Annb hug for the breathlessness especially on leg day. I think your homily describes what life could/should be like. BUT.... I've sent a PM to save clogging up this thread. Peace be with you all.

5.2 on Tuesday. We had a wonderful first day at The Victoria. Got there early so we could have a lovely walk around Holkham estate, then a rather delicious Dinner.

I didn't take my meter with me as I decided to 'go off the rails' a little while we were there.

Wednesday we had a lovely walk for miles along the beach and through the pjne woods. Bonnie was scared of the sea. She is the first Labrador we have ever had who was scared of the sea.

Dinner Wednesday was also delicious. Bonnie is such a good girl in the restaurant.

We had a lovely walk around the Holkham estate after breakfast and we are back home now after a lovely relaxing break.

I am expecting a horrendous fbg tomorrow.

Reminds me of Banksie (the Newfoundland DIL had). Newfies are bred to rescue people from the water but it was very clear that Banksie didn't like the water. He just wouldn't go into the sea with the family but would sit on the beach howling his dismay. They tried taking him as a passenger on a double kayak but he jumped off (into the sea) and tried to tow the kayak back to the land. He did, on the odd occasion go into the sea, but only to try to haul someone out when they were swimming. Maybe that is how newfies are wired. They don't like the sea and feel impelled to pull people out of it. Banksie has now retired and is a different kind of rescue dog - an emotional support dog. His owner plays rugby and Banksie has his own rugby ball - stops him 'rescuing' the ball that is in play.

Why does our family have such oddball pets?

Banksie sounds like a real character and a very intelligent and lovely dog.

Bonnie is a highly intelligent dog also. When we got back home she insisted on checking the garden and the whole house. It was as though she was worried that the garden and the rest of the house might have disappeared while we were away.

Good morning all. fbs was 9.7 again. Following a phone call yesterday from the Diabetes nurse who is monitoring me I have increased my insulin dose again this morning. Later this morning my Freestyle Libre also runs out and I have to replace it with a new one. It will be the first time I have attached one myself so I hope I do so correctly. Best wishes for today.

Morning all from a bright but what seems to be almost chilly start after the last few months here in L.A. Fbg here was 4.5 which is where it remains. @Annb hug for feeling yukky and I hope a nap helps. @dogslife I hope the extra insulin and fitting the Libre sensor go well. No grandchildren here although quite a few pieces of evidence remain in the form of technology, clothing, journals and toys. We had some drizzle and a burst or two of rain yesterday. Rewilding was already part of The Culture Wars but no doubt the forces of darkness will be even more determined to convince us that white is black (or brown is green).. Peace be with you all.
