What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Blood sugars this morning were 7.4

Happy national bin day morning Ladies and Gentlemen, today I have a brief window of time where I can sit with my feet up and post while waiting for my koffy to stew, then Mrs J will resume her role as a dictator adding unwanted structure to my life, whoops I hear movement……bye four now‍

5.5 this morning.
Yesterday Mr K was feeling much better and was able to move more freely around the house without Nordic Walking poles. At 4am he woke up in agony.

A&E were brilliant and very thorough. He had xrays and CT scans on his hip and pelvis.

They found two small fractures on his pelvis but we were so pleased that the hip he broke falling over the dogs a few years ago was absolutely ok.

They said that we were doing all the right things and the poles were so good because they prevented pressure on the fractures. So now we knew why he had so much pain - the moving around the house without the poles yesterday had been too much pressure on the fractures.I

The fractures will heal without an op and we feel much better now we know what is causing the pain

Morning all on a cool start here. 5.3 here today cause unknown but the approaching demise of this sensor and an odd bug are both lines of enquiry. We don't usually need a 7.00 am alarm but Open Reach are coming to change our "feed" to full fibre to the house today - between 8.00 a.m. and 1.00 pm. They aren't here as I type but I am reminded how chill late September mornings are. @Annb I hope leg day isn't overly trying and tiring. @Krystyna23040 Eddie Hearn wants a photo shoot for promotional work with sponsors - could be an issue. Does Mr K do a good pout and strut his stuff on the catwalk? - I'll outsource that side to him. I'll deal with the press, talk about our processes, red zones, mentality monsters and values - baffle them with b***. Peace be with you all.
Oh no @ianpspurs . Mr K won't be able to strut his stuff for a while.

02.40 BG was 5.9.

Idiot that I am (and half asleep) I got up and took painkillers with a glass of water then had a cup of Caro, completely forgetting that I was fasting for 8 hours before taking my first pill. Fell asleep again in the chair (painkillers do that) and now, at 07.40 BG is dropping through the 4's. I can't wait another 8 hours before taking that pill. So it will have to be a 5 hour fast. So here we go - weight loss pill coming up, then another half hour before I can eat or drink anything else. Just have to hope I can stay above 4 until then. If not - that will be another rule broken. :dead:

Morning all. 5.4 here today - apparently :meh: @Krystyna23040 sorry to read about Mr K's pelvis but good to know the Nordic walking poles are an ideal way to help recover. @Annb an infamous man once said we are rule makers not rule takers and he should know. She'll be right. Peace be with you all.

I do hope that you were able to stay above 4 @Annb

I did - Libre measured spot on 4 when I took my pill. Unfortunately, I'm 4 hours into the next fast and BG just dropped to 3.7 so I had to have carbs to bring it back up into the safer levels around 5 - I hope. Not sure what to do in the morning now.

Thank you @ianpspurs. Mr K was really worried that he had damaged his hip replacement so finding out that his hip was completely undamaged was a huge relief.

Trying to follow the rules is a bit of a nightmare @Annb

Just ignored the fact that I had eaten carb 4 hours into the fast and just took the pill at 02.50 today. BG was 5.1 at that stage. I'll have to try a different timing tomorrow. Maybe I'll make the 8 hour break from 08.00 to 16.00 and see how that works.
EDIT: Thinking again about how my days work out, I may just make the 8 hour fast from about 10.00 to 18.00.

Morning all from another late summer's day here. The new sensor would have me believe my fbg was 4.7 and I'm not inclined to argue. @Krystyna23040 it certainly is good news about Mr K's hip replacement being undamaged. @Annb the new meds seem to be working but causing their own issues around scheduling your complete routine. I find it interesting that a new sensor brings readings in line with my expectations - confirmation bias is alive and well. Two grandchildren slept over last night. JKP has taken our granddaughter to swimming then virtually straight afterwards ballet. Could cost £s in cakes as the local cafe has a presence in the leisure centre (and 1 or 2 locally) and they sell amazing baked good. Belgian Bun experiment may be incoming after last week's Tiffin. The lady who owns/part owns the business bakes many of them and lives in this close. The swimming and ballet take place just across the road from us at one of the last Tory regime's better ideas. I think Matt Hancock pushed for this. Peace be with you.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.7 and now 7.8

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and those not sure, please check, but not each other and not in public.

We are starting a new gardener / handy person this morning. Therefore I must get prepared, bye for now.

Morning all from a sunny but early autumnal chill start here in L.A. 4.8 here today. Another HF box arrived yesterday with more goodies. So far most meals have been BG friendly for me. The word glaze appears on some so are best avoided and the protein portion is smaller than I would ideally like. The bonus is that JKP and I both eat the same meal so less prep and there is less waste as all ingredients are measured and vacuum sealed. No more salad every day for me. Last evening was the first time I can ever remember JKP making dill sauce with fresh dill. I did have both portions of salmon though as JKP and grandchildren were having chilli. I started this WofE July 7 2015 and it has never worked well for JKP or my family. This is about the best so far. Peace be with you.

5.9 at 04.00 today.
Back later. I have to get onto a Zoom meeting.
Oh that was heavy going! One young man managed to dominate the whole meeting by repeating the same question over and over. Lots of people trying to give him an answer but he just wasn't getting it. Chaotic! I don't like chaos. And I have another Zoom meeting this afternoon, but it should be easier on the ear.

6.2 this morning
We visited our little market town this morning. Sat and relaxed in the Queen Mother's Garden. It was so quiet and peaceful there.

Then Bonnie insisted that we went to Costa coffee as she desperately needed her puppuccino

In my last year lecturing at our local college, I made a sign which said "My patience was legendary. Now, it is mythical." It was a joke, but it was fairly accurate. I've just realized that yesterday's Zoom meeting was an example of that. It was my lack of patience that was more at fault than the young man's insistent questioning. He wanted to understand, and there's nothing wrong with that. Bad Ann!

BG at 04.00 was 5.6. I think I've found a good level for my basal insulin meantime. 41u seems to be right for now. I did drop it to 40 but BG was a bit all over the place so today I'm back up to 41.

Morning all from L.A. where today's start does seem to presage Summer's demise even though this week should still be less layers than an onion. Fbg of 4.6 here following a day watching a variety of sports and not much food. @Annb the tag line/chorus here is apposite one feels. Quite a philosopher in many ways is our Jess. @Krystyna23040 that Bonnie is a bad influence on y'all :D @jjraak thanks for the ratings - my sponsors like clicks:D Peace be with you.

I've reached the stage, Ian where I can acknowledge my faults - once I see them - and try to stop making the same mistakes. Not too many years left to get it right - not in this world anyway.
