What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good evening all. My blood sugars today were 8.6 via finger prick as I didn't automatically replace my sensor recently due to my flu vaccination followed by a nasty cold which has put me in bed for 3 days and would probably put my sugars up anyway. The nurse from the diabetes service who rings me weekly as part of my monitoring is amazing and really knows her stuff. The one who rang me this week, however, spent the time asking me for info. that is already on their system. She then decided to look things up on her computer and said my results were amazing. I explained why I had not replaced my sensor for the last few days. She then noticed the last date of the results they'd received and asked why I had not replaced my sensor since then! She also asked me for details of my diabetes medication which they already have but I had to correct her. When I saw her follow up report to my GP she had got the medication doses wrong! My GP knows my correct doses so I am not really concerned but can't understand what happened. She must have been having a bad day! Having said that I am sincerely grateful for the support I have received from the diabetes service. Since being put onto insulin they have monitored my blood levels via my sensor and adjusted my dosage accordingly and even provided appointments to demonstrate/ assist with the initial fitting of my sensor and injection of insulin which helped a lot. I hope you have all stayed safe during the recent storms. My illness meant that I missed most of the wind/ rain except through the bedroom window. I am recovering but now my husband has started with it and several of our walking group have also cancelled due to colds. :( Stay well, warm and safe all. Best wishes. :)
You have had brilliant support from your diabetes team @dogslife. It is a shame that this week's nurse was having a bad day

Good that you are recovering from the illness. Hope your husband recovers quickly

Good afternoon everyone on yet another blustery day here in the dark and dangerous north.
Been away from the internet for a while but blood sugars are staying in the 5’s and my HbA1c this week came in at 40 so pleased with that. Nothing special, just keeping an eye on carb intake and smaller plates. I only eat two meals a day, lunch at noon and dinner at about 7pm.
@jjraak I have had to give up my motorcycles for a variety of health reasons -boo, hoo - never mind. Some things change and some things remain the same.
I hope that everyone is as well as they allow themselves.
Good that you are back on the internet @dunelm and a really brilliant HbA1c

Mr K also gave up his motorcycles. He had several near misses because of some appalling driving by other motorists. I must admit that I was really pleased that he made that decision

Blood sugars this morning are 7.7

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen

We had two of our grandchildren staying over last night, but they will be returning to their parents late this afternoon, when Mrs J and myself will collapse, as is the duty of all grandparents.

Good morning everyone. Another blustery day to knock away the cobwebs. 5.3 on the odometer this a.m.
It’s international Stoic week so lots of daily reading going on from this years offerings and some group chats. What fun.
I hope that you have a smashing Wednesday. I shall finish my koffy and get on with a bit of reading - probably about how emotions are driven by how we interpret events. Later, a GP appointment - so precious these days and not to be wasted.

5.4 at 02.40 today.

Started well but I dropped basal insulin down by one to 40u this week and I don't think it's working. Needs a bolus dose to keep BG at a good level if I eat carbs, whereas, with 41u I can get by without the bolus dose. As usual, it's all very odd.

Covid and flu jabs today, then an appointment with the medical consultant at the hospital this afternoon. He should be pleased that, at last, I am on the weight loss pill - he asked for me to be put onto the injections in 2023.

Nice work on the jabs @Annb

Stoic, you say @dunelm ?

Here, hold my hair shirt. .

A GP call today,
Not fit for work until my appointment with the shrinks in December.

So, that's a little pressure off.

Today's plan is to pick up meds, get a chit from GP for blood test.
Then off to local hospital to get the tests done

There , now it's out there, I'm Commited, right ...lol.

Fbg was 6,2. Happy with that .

Hope you feel ok after the flu and Covid jabs @Annb and the appointment with the consultant this afternoon goes well.
Trying how to work out how much insulin to take is a real conundrum

The Consultant at the hospital was very happy that I have been given the semaglutamide pill, and with the results so far but is now warning that I must keep up the protein intake because with the weight loss there is likely to be muscle loss as well. Exercise, of course, is part of the answer to losing muscle. Ah well. I do what I can.

Thank you@Krystyna23040. I have now attached my new sensor. My cold symptoms are gradually improving but my sugars are still peaking especially during last night when I had a lot of back pain. This morning at 3am they were 13 reducing to just below 9 at 6am dropping to 5 before lunch so up and down like a yoyo! My husband is still struggling with chesty problems and several co walkers are still having symptoms. It has been a bad cold, possibly Covid? I hope you stay well and avoid the bugs that are doing the rounds. Take care and best wishes. :)

Shock! Last week I lost 2kg. This week I put almost the same amount back on again. That's the first week on this pill that that has happened. Maybe I'm getting used to it at last. I have an appointment with the diabesters nurse tomorrow, so we'll have a chat about it then.

BG at 02.15 today was 3.6 when my Libre woke me. Should I take something to bring it up to a safe level, and then should I take my pill, or leave it for today? In the kitchen, I tested it again at 02.30 - 5.4. Took the pill. 45 minutes later (I fell asleep in the chair) I checked again before taking painkillers and it was 9.5. Wonder which one was my FBG.

Good late morning everyone on a triple bin day cavalcade of fun here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.4 this a.m. and a nice walk into town in the sunshine to collect my prescribed unctions.
GP yesterday and a thorough job he did. Prescribed something called Ciprofloxacin and an appointment for a CT scan early November - luxury!
Half term grandparent duties today so a fun day so far.
Hope your day is going as wonderful as you can let it.

There are some really horrible viruses around at the moment @dogslife. Several of my class members have also been really ill.

I am not surprised your blood sugars are going haywire.

Our local chemist is also really good for the flu and covid jabs. The pharmacist is also really knowledgeable when we ask for advice

Good morning all. I don't know if it is me or my sensor that is haywire. My readings are up and down like a yoyo. This morning at 6am my low blood sugar alarm went off with a reading of 3.1! As I had no hypo symptoms I promptly pricked my finger with a reading of 11.1! I went back to my phone and the sensor reading was now reading 11.2! I checked my phone for low glucose events and it said zero. Following on before breakfast whilst lying still in bed my readings fluctuated between 8 and 10.8. I've noticed that every night at around 3 & 4 am my readings drop below 6 on my graph. Is this usual? I understand that Freestyle Libre sensors can take several hours to settle after applying them but it has been in place for 3 days now. It's a mystery! Sending best wishes to you all. :)

4.7 first thing (02.30). Stayed there despite moving around. Breakfast, with insulin because of carb content, caused a peak of 9.5 - still there at 90 minutes later. EDIT: still rising - now 10.4 (11.02)

Yesterday exhausted me and I felt pretty ill as the day wore on - that was because of the very busy Wednesday, no doubt.

Good evening. It happened again this afternoon! My Freestyle libre2+ sensor low sugar alarm went off saying my level had dropped below 4. I felt fine so pricked my finger with a score of 11.1. I also kept getting messages saying sensor error and my daily graph had several gaps in it as well as going up and down dramatically -apparently unrelated to what I'd eaten etc. As my results are being monitored by the Diabetes Service and my insulin levels are adjusted accordingly I contacted Abbot for advice. After a lot of discussion and recording of the phone call he decided the sensor was faulty and arranged to send a replacement asap. I have also been asked to return the faulty sensor in a package provided by them. Until then it's back to finger pricking and recording my results in my diary ready for my next appointment. I have just removed my sensor only 3 days after applying it. Hey ho! Good night and best wishes for the week-end. :)
