Customer helplines that use recorded menus that promise to put me through to the right person but never do - and being ill. Oh, and did I mention customer helplines :)
Earlier this month, 65-year-old Wilco Johnson the innovative guitarist with Doctor Feelgood announced his diagnosis with terminal pancreatic cancer.

Dr Feelgood are a high energy Rhythm & Blues band that I have admired since I first heard them in the 1970's. Wilco was born John Peter Wilkinson on Canvey Island, Essex, an area often referred to by the band as the "Thames Delta" showing their blues roots.

Here is a video showing off Wilcos unique stabbing staccato guitar style perfectly.

True legend.

So distinctive in his guitar style and his performance.

As Sid says, he's got terminal pancreatic cancer and treatment to control it (chemotherapy) would just make his last year of life miserable so he's opted to live out the rest of his life doing what he does best, playing and performing. He's announced a farewell tour as a result.

On a recent interview he said how much it's changed how he views things in life and that he's cherishing every moment no matter how big or small.

Here is an extract from his recent interview were he talks frankly about his condition and his reasons for refusing chemotherapy, he comes across as a very brave man indeed.

The full interview will be broadcast on Friday 25 February at 19:15 on BBC Radio 4's Front Row.

He has certainly lived life to the full and for any Feelgood fans I can thoroughly recommend the award winning Julien Temple 2009 film "Oil City Confidential" which was made documenting the bands rise to fame and their lives before and since.

I shall probably be watching it again this evening :D

Gosh, Im very sorry to find this out...

My OH and myself often went to Brunel Uni to watch Dr Feelgood peform. They were fantastic to watch esp Wilco do his strut. We've got most of their albums and sheet music and even now listening to their songs on the radio takes us back to our nights out on a Friday at Brunel.....
