I work in telecoms and have done from school after an apprenticeship .
I work on behind the scenes networks involving fibre optics and work on networks for fixed line and mobile operators.
Bit geeky but I like anything computer/ software based.

I would like to change work for something that doesn't involve so much travelling as I feel it affects my ability to control my diabeties but scared to jump out of the frying pan into the fire in terms of job security etc.

Hi adie my first full time job when I left school was in telecoms as well. I was 16 and started work as a GPO telephonist. I was so excited about starting the course, as all us youngster started in the September with training. I was the voice at the other end saying " Number please, directory enquires which town please and also on 999 calls from members of the public, " Emergency, which service do you require" it was so exciting for a 16 year old girl and we had to pass a couple of tests at the interview before even being accepted. And it was all FREE then, those were the days.
Just a quick note, I left my last job because of the owners and the work:(, and said right I am going self employed as a home help( but had no idea what I was getting into). It was hard as first, but now I do al lsorts of 'handy work' including Dog walking ,some gardening, home help and assisting an old friend with shopping as he has lost his site, I don't drive and most is very local. Best thing I have done and I wish I had done it sooner, love being outside and meeting different people, and being my own boss.

I think that people were doing experiments on the sheep and turned them into carnivores that had a taste for human flesh.
In all honesty, it could possibly be the worst film I've ever seen!

Disagree Indy. It kept me amused for over an hour and I wasn't a captive audience on the treadmill either.

Thought it might be interesting to find out what jobs we do, or is there something that you would really love to do :)

I'm a self employed part-time handy person, care assistant, a dog walker and gardening work, which I love and I'm so lucky:joyful:

I used to be an industry specialist corporate manager (Transport & Logistics) for one of the Big Four banks in Canary Wharf. Moved back to The Lakes, spent some time at Outward Bound and am currently in a finance role at a well known Nuclear Licensed Site.

Dictators who positively go out of their way to force misery, tears and fears, upon their countryman's lives.
Politicians who, in dealing with dictators, have a wishbone where a backbone should be.
I owned a retail shop until I retired.

There's a clue to my profession below.

Yes that's me, however I'm as ugly as sin so I
disguised myself. I bought that new wig specially
for the photoshoot.
Beautiful fit don't you think, made to measure you know.
Actually it's covering a huge pimple just above my forehead.
In fact it's more than just a simple pimple, it's a plook, a
huge green and yellow throbbing plook.... what a sight.

The 'eyes? false. :joyful:

1985.!!!!!! I'll be 70 in December so I was just a boy when that
pic was taken. Hah, bet you thought I was in my 30's/40's
at the moment.

'Tash?
