I have been sick for days and my sugar levels have gone steadily up,
despite not being able to have anything solid in my stomach.
I have kept taking my insulin but cannot get the levels down.
I am not moving about much because I feel so bad
The only advice from NHS was to keep myself hydrated.
My levels are round about 17. Can anyone tell me how to bring them down?

I see you're a T1 on mixed insulin like myself. Hopefully you were given a copy of "Sick Day Rules" by your diabetic team as this is what you need to follow. I'm sure some more experienced T1s will be along to help you soon.

Have you been given rapid acting insulin in addition to the Novomix30?

no, I haven't

Oh! I always thought it was standard to get rapid acting insulin to keep in the fridge for sick days.

I think you should try to contact your medical people as soon as you can and discuss this. Who is looking after you, GP? hospital?

whenever i'm ill my levels go upto and over 30/35 ,sometimes HIGH which is over 40.. normally i take novo rapid 10 units x 3 . breakfast /lunch/teatime..sometimes i have had 40 units before lunch.. the levels stay high until i'm feeling better.then i have to test really often to observe when they start coming down so that i can go back to 10 units 3 times daily. i've been doing this for 45yrs and i'm still ok.
