    Positive LADA

My test results have come back positive LADA. Sort of relieved, as I thought I was being incompetent, not managing my blood sugars. But at the same time thinking why, not sure i'll get that answer. I've stopped losing weight since starting insulin in March, so that's good, need to put a little...

Of all changes in your "old" lifestyle you had to do, which one was the most difficult?

I miss toast, lovely and warm with melted butter mmmm. I've tried every type, to no avail, blood sugars soar. I'm fine now about it, just occasionally it would be nice..

    LADA test yesterday

I'm still waiting on results. I understand they take a few weeks. I'm gradually getting used to using insulin, and my blood sugars certainly less labile, between 6-10mmols predominately, occasionally a bit higher! Still tired at times, which is frustrating. I've not put weight on yet but at...

    LADA test yesterday

Hello, I got tested for LADA yesterday. My diabetes journey started a year ago when diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, hba1c 50. I went low carb and my 3 month repeat result was hba1c 47, so I thought I was coping with it. But over the summer last year I increasingly felt unwell after eating and my...

    Still struggling

I've been on insulin for 6 days now. My blood sugars are more stable now. The hospital diabetic nurse has been in touch a couple of times, and the practice diabetic nurse. I spoke with a dietition, I think in my attempts to try and bring my blood sugars down I wasn't eating enough. I haven't...

Hi, sorry to hear about your worrying time. I too recently had blood sugars of between 18-22mmols.They didn't budge off those levels, whether I ate or not, so after multiple phone calls to the GP and 3 hospital visits, feeling very unwell and loosing weight fast, I was started on insulin. I felt...

The young doctor yesterday, part of the endocrinology team was the first one who took seriously my weight loss, I was loosing a lb a day, 3 1/2 stone in total, I look dreadful, skeletal. I need to...

Thank you all for your help. I phoned the gp again this morning, and the diabetic nurse called back who wanted me to go back to A/E. I went back, I think this was an irritation to A/E. I spent the day at the hospital, IV fluids again, the hospital Diabetic nurse spoke to me. She prescribed...

    I need help

Hello, I was diagnosed T2 last March and like you I felt very alone. It's taken me a year to adjust, not just to the diet but the diagnosis. I'm still a little in denial, as to why i'm diabetic. I'm getting better at baking keto cakes, i've tried lots of low carb foods, some ok some not. I'm...

Any experience of MyDesmond online alternative to face-to-face session?

Hi, I was diagnosed with T2 about a year ago and attended a zoom Desmond course about 9 months ago. The course advised a 'balanced diet', I followed the ideas given. But for me controlling my blood sugars is not the Desmond balanced diet. It actually delayed me controlling my blood sugars. It's...
