I bolus for every meal but for lunch and dinner I've always had a piece of protein and vegetables because my family and I don't particular like pasta or rice. I used to maybe have sweet potato or couscous on the plate but that's never a thing anymore, I can't cope. But it is breakfast in...

How many eggs can you eat?

Haha it's okay I was worried no one would reply and try help or understand so it's nice someone has! I associate the insulin with causing weight gain - if I have a hypo I will have just 1 glucose tube as I can see the calories on it being very little, in the past I've just had coffee to bring it...

How many eggs can you eat?

Thank you for your detailed response I appreciate the advice and care. I do test regularly - a minimum of 4 times a day. I think I'm mainly scared because I don't want to have to give myself more insulin if I'm high because I think that will make me gain weight. I used to eat granola or porridge...

Hi all thank you for the replies - I have been having omelettes every morning and just wanted to know if it was damaging to do this. I have a huge fear of carbohydrates (I'm seeing an eating disorder specialist to help me) and I get scared the insulin won't bring my levels to a stable level...

    Low GI cereals?

Hi everyone I'm getting a bit bored of having omelettes for breakfast every morning, but the porridge I used to buy would not bring my levels down to normal, never mind how much insulin I gave myself. I was wondering what cereals work for you guys and keep your levels in normal range?

Thank you! The only time I eat a carb filled meal is at breakfast, at lunch it's always salad and dinner meat and vegetables - I am the same and don't even enjoy carbs anymore! So it frustrates me when I want an omelette but my levels don't seem to agree..I still do some trial and error to get...

    Breakfasts. What can I eat?!

Thank you - I can have porridge or granola with about 4/5 units or insulin and be around 7-8mmol at lunchtime but ill perhaps try an omelette with 1/2 units - how often should I check my levels to see if that's the right amount?

    Breakfasts. What can I eat?!

I'm having the same problem - I've tried having omelettes or scrambled egg but my levels still creep up - is it because I still need to give a few units or is it because I eat at 6:45-7 and not again til about 12:50

Have you always gotten sick easily?

I catch an illness ridiculously fast and I can't feel warmth very well, I'm always wearing my coat in school because I'm so cold. However before I was diagnosed with T1 I was diagnosed with hives and then later with under active thyroid so my immune system is pretty lame haha

I'm trying to come up with a list of tips and tricks for t1 diabetics. Came up with 7. Any ideas?

Thanks both - I had been struggling with getting my levels right as before lunchtime they'd always be high - injected earlier today at 6:30 and eat 10 mins after and blood sugar at 10:45 was 6.3 so I'm happy!
