Limiting Carbs, Not Calories, Reduces Liver Fat Faster

You'd think they'd have extended it for longer, or is it so that we can still be told to eat lots of carbs

Is a BG of 4 a hypo for type 2 Diabetics

No he wasn't worried about high readings - in part it was about testing regularly. I told him that as well as high ones, I get quite a few under 4 - which I said was hypo level - and he said it wasn't - even with the symptoms I described above. I was arguing my corner about wanting to test...

Strange (to me) Blood Glucose Reading, help please

I'm starting to eat low carb, but can't go shopping until tomorrow, so I'm eating what is in. I've had an omelette for the last 3 evenings and needed the husks too go to the loo. Once I've been to the shops - probably tomorrow (when hubby's money will be in the post office) then I'll be buying...

Strange (to me) Blood Glucose Reading, help please

Last evening I had a 3 egg cheese omelette with one slice of Hovis Seed Sensations bread, with margarine, for my evening meal at about 6pm. I tested my blood at 7.30 and it was 8.3. At 8.15 it was 8.1 and then at 9.30 it was 10.2. Oh I also had 2 Psyllium husks with my tablets at 7pm -...

    Low Carbing issues.

Psyllium (sp?) husks. Fairly expensive but effective - in my case anyway. Or if you really get bunged up Movicol - gain without pain. Cheers Ailz

Is there anyone else with Fibromyalgia too?

I'm trying to cut back on my carbs. Due to acid reflux for the least couple of years my evening meal has been rice pudding or semolina or porridge. Now, on testing, I find they cause really high spikes. That's why I joined this forum - to learn more about my diabetes. Though the Duloxetine...

A reasonably positive article about type 2

This article for once doesn't follow an obesity agenda for type 2 - they quote Halle Berry - but they don't really give many ideas for avoiding it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/wellb ... rence.html Cheers Ailz

Is there anyone else with Fibromyalgia too?

My doctor is very good about the fibro. I was on morphine for quite a while, but he assisted me when I wanted to downgrade to dihydracodeine. He's very good at changing my tablets around for me when I find something new to try on the internet. Do you follow low carb, high carb or what to keep...

    VICTOZA users

Re: VICTOZA I've asked my doctor about this (yesterday) and he'd rather I didn't have it - too expensive - but wants me to think about it for 3 weeks and then speak to him again. If I still want to go on it - in his words - he thinks he'd be able to make a good argument with the PCT for me...

    Should I get tested?

I would go to my gp, explain what is wrong and ask for the full range of tests - if nothing shows up it will at least put your mind at rest - with your family history I would have thought it advisable. Cheers Ailz

Rant...Information not always shared with the patient

I was in hospital in 2005 - after being told the pain in my back was fibro for 10 years I was taken in as an emergency and discovered to have a gangrenous gall bladder, not fun - and was told off by a consultant - not even the one I was under - for reading my notes which had been left at the...

Is there anyone else with Fibromyalgia too?

I have fibromyalgia - which includes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and since I started the low carb eating I feel even more tired than ever (only 2-3 days). I'm hoping it's a blip and will improve, but I wondered if anyone can give me any advice. Thanks Ailz

Well done, I will be trying this with my doctor when I next speak to him in 3 weeks time.

    Dispatches

I was horrified as this is my health trust. Luckily I would go to (Name of Hospital removed), usually, rather than the Hospital featured, but (Name of Hospital removed) did mess up my father's insulin, by insisting that he should have it 3 times a day rather than once as he was used to. Over a...

    Blood Sugar Testing

I've been told by my doctor (yesterday) that I don't need to test - but if I must test then he will allow me strips to do it Once a Week  . What good is that? He said that as I'm on Metformin I can't have hypos so there is no need to test. But what about how bg? Don't worry about it...

Is a BG of 4 a hypo for type 2 Diabetics

When I have told my doctor that my BG has gone below 4 he tells me not to worry as being a type 2 on Metformin I can't have a hypo. But I feel very shaky, get the sweats and end up not being able to string words together - which I thought WAS a hypo. Am I right? Also I used to test a lot and...

    Eating grapefruit or not

I only know that you shouldn't eat grapefruit if you take statins or are on blood thinning medicine. Other than that, in moderation should be okay. You can always check your blood sugar and see if it causes a spike. Different people react in different ways to a lot of foods. Ailz
