    Scar tissue and infusion sites

I’m currently using the Tandem TSlim x2 with the trusteel infusion sites. The plastic infusion sites didn’t work for me at all. I seemed to have a bit of an allergy to the teflon cannulas, which caused inflammation and pain at the sites and made absorption even more difficult.

    Scar tissue and infusion sites

Hi all, I have been on insulin for about 25 years now. I rotate my sites regularly, but still think that I have developed some scar tissue that prevents me from absorbing insulin correctly. I have one area of my lower abdomen that is basically a no go, it just doesn’t work properly. When I...

    Eye issues

Thanks for all your lovely messages! I was quite emotional leaving the eye clinic this week! I know that there’s still the post-birth rollercoaster to get through, but feel so well supported by the team at the hospital. Different eye issues have followed me for years now and put me off...

    Eye issues

Another update from me - 23 weeks now. I went back for another review at the eye clinic. The doctors were happy to see that the background they saw at my last check-up had regressed. They were really happy with my eyes and don’t want to see me until after the baby arrives now!! Tight...

    Dexcom first 24h

Yes i swapped to Dexcom as the libre was just not accurate enough for me. Dexcom is usually better and improved by the calibration feature. However, this sensor just doesn’t want to calibrate. Every time input a correct reading, it ignores it and reverts to the previous reading. fyi this isn’t...

    Dexcom first 24h

I’m funding these myself. Currently on holiday, so will call when I’m home next week. It has got a bit more accurate over the past few days, but still seems to be ignoring calibrations. I.e. it says I’m at 10mmol, I correct to 8 per my finger stick and 15mins later it’s back above 10. Very...

    Dexcom first 24h

Just to add the Dexcom seems to be ignoring most calibrations that I’ve added. I’ll calibrate downwards, it will correct and then 10mins later it’s showing a higher number again. Should I give up on this site and call Dexcom for a replacement?

    Dexcom first 24h

Hi everyone, I tried to “presoak” a dex sensor from yesterday. When I put the transmitter in today it was one of the worst that I’ve had! The Dexcom kept saying I was 16mmol and going up and hasn’t dropped below 11mmol today (i have been between 2mmol -8mmol most of today). I missed quite a...

    Skin grip

Im a bit paranoid about losing them as they’re so expensive! I might try to use cavilon spray underneath so my skin will be protected.

    Flying

Insulin needs to come into the cabin with you. The temperature fluctuations in the hold might make the insulin ineffective.

    Skin grip

Thanks! This stuff does sort of feel like physio tape, even removing after a shower was very painful! I don’t think it was helped by the plaster being half off already as that probably meant it was tugging against clothes for a while.

    Skin grip

Thanks! Will have a look at some of those options!

    Skin grip

Hi there! Does anyone use Skin Grip to secure their CGM? I bought a pack to keep my Dexcom stuck on for the full 10 days. I found that after a few days the outer edge of the plaster came unstuck and was a bit flappy. I trimmed it to make it look a bit better. However when I removed the...

    Frio pump pouch

Hi everyone, I’ve just purchased a pump pouch from Frio in advance of my first summer holiday with a pump. First impressions are that it is massive! Like 4x the size of my t-slim. I normally wear my pump in my back pocket or pop it into my bra. The size of this pouch doesn’t seem like it’s...

    Dexcom One Silent mode

Ooh how did you get them for £57? Did you call up?

    Dexcom One Silent mode

I’ve just been looking into buying my first transmitter this week. Firstly, I would advise you to fill out the “I’m interested in the G6” form on the Dexcom website. I did this and got a free transmitter and two sensors (handy as spares). This could save you the initial fee I’ve just noticed...

    Dexcom One Silent mode

Yep it works just as though it’s a standard G6. The sensors don’t seem to know the difference, so you can download the g6 app and use it normally. It also links with my pump (t-slim), so I can see my BG there too. I can’t use Control IQ, due to pregnancy targets, but I’m confident that you...

Type 1, 17 Weeks Pregnant and being started on Metformin

Hi there, I’m about 15 weeks and have just started metformin to help with insulin resistance. I am generally quite insulin resistant anyway and expressed concerns to my consultant about how that might increase over the next few months. I started on Saturday with one tablet (i asked to be put...

    “Hacking” Control IQ

Sorry I missed the comments on this post. I found some Reddit threads with some advice on how to do this () I’m not using this currently, as I’m pregnant. I’m just using the pump manually for my tight control. I’d advise you to do a bit more research into this than I have. You might be at...

    Dexcom One Silent mode

For anyone who might be interested… I gave up on the Dexcom one. I was finding that it ran consistently high, which meant that it wasn’t catching hypos quickly. My hypo awareness isn’t great at the moment as I’ve been keeping control very tight in pregnancy, so this wasn’t ideal. Even setting...
