    Carbs vs sugars

Is 1g of sugar equivalent of 1g carbs when it comes to total blood sugar increase? And it is just question of speed, how fast the carbs and sugars are digested into the blood stream? If the alternative is to eat breakfaat with 9g of sugar or 12 grams of carbs which is better and does it even...

Type 2 Blood glugose level raising after waking up

So is it bad. And if so, how bad ? The 1-1.5mmol I guess is not that bad and that glucose is coming from somehere where then should be less of it left ?

My Left Foot - is this neuropathy or something else?

I think it normally starts from or near toes as those are the most sensitive nerves.

I feel like I have diabetes but my blood test show that I don't?

I am no doctor but I think Blood Glugose test are pretty darn conlusive: You not likely to(*) have Diabetes. Specially the Hba1C test, called 'long term sugar'. There are so many other things that can cause similar symproms that I with my very limited medical knowledge know of. Starting from...

Type 1 Mentally dealing with diabetes

Yes, many others have problems dealing with the mental strain of the diabetes. It is much more than anyone non-diabetic understand. And I speak from knowledge. My mother has had T2 for all my life, I always though it was no big thing... until I was diagnosed. Well, actually the diagnosis was...

Type 2 Different Carbs different BG spikes

A good article: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/nutrition/sugar.html I myself am still trying to figure out carbs. So far I have learned that I and my body hates them :) I personally have come to conclusion that for me there are no "good" carbs. I think what tripped be up is I think I ate "good"...

Has anyone had higher readings on the day of A1c test ?

For me stress can account for almost 2mmol increase, usually around 1.5mmol increase in blood glugose values. Temporary high BG value does not effect HBA1c value. As the HBA1c is measurement of the long term blood glugose levels.

Type 2 Blood glugose level raising after waking up

I have noticed that if I oversleep like 3-4h. Or wake up take Metfor. And take BG measurement. If I then go back to bed for 3-4 h without eating any thing or I am busy with work (remote) then often when I measure again my BG is up 1-2 units. That confuses me shouldn't it go down longer I am not...

    Smallest lancing device

Googling I found these: http://www.surecarecorp.com/upload_files/20130523112253532.jpg To my understanding these are single use lancing devices size of a average lacing needle. Am I wrong? In bulk order costing less than 2 cents each...

    Unreliability of the meters

My point was "It was quite accurate to my opinion" could just mean it gives consistently wrong readings. As I noticed when comparing 2 meters. Each were within 15% error margin by themselves, but pushing close to 30% erro margin when compared with each others.

    Unreliability of the meters

My cheapo one says GlugoX - Taldoc Technology Corporation. And it's actually Taiwan if that makes much difference. My point was it made almost 1 mmol error from SAME blood drop. And almost 2 mmol error to German made meter.

    Unreliability of the meters

I did not eat well today and I was feeling a bit feverish. I ate cafeteria sandwich, whole grain rye with veggies, cheese and fried egg. One in my "morning" 12:00 and another at 16:00. That's all I had to to eat all day. Coming home at 19:00 I measured my BG. And it showed 7.3mmol I was did not...

Hypo - Good News or Bad?

Really ? But I though normal fasting range is 3.9-7.2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_sugar_level) So at 3.9 non-diabetic person is not even outside of normal healthy range.

    Is Stevia ok ?

Because I would like to have at least one food or drink left in my life that actually tastes good. Or at least has a some kind of taste. And does not slowly and painfully cripple & kill me.

    Is Stevia ok ?

I have been told by professional nutritionist that some of the artificial sweeteners can be bad for diabetes. Some of them increase the rate at which body ingest sugars and thus raise sugar levels. Also I been told by nutritionist acesulfame is poison to your nerves...

What are you after meal reading and what do you consider too high ?

Then I would be happily mistaken :)

What are you after meal reading and what do you consider too high ?

Update: now 2h after that measurement my BG is 4.8. I do not think swings like that are ok or even normal. P.S. I did not wash my hands before either measurements.

What are you after meal reading and what do you consider too high ?

For a week I had around 6.5mmol BG 2-3 hours after meal. Today I though I could eat a little better (read: worse) and it was 8.2. I think that is too high. My morning reading was 5.1. And I am thinking that 6.5 after meal reading could be ideal ? Andnever let it go to high 7. I made a...

Type 2 Safe rate of deducing insulin dosage

I have got my fasting blood glucose on a pretty good downward trend. I been wondering what is a good and safe rate of reducing the dosage. My GP told to increase it 2 units a week. And I seem to remember an instruction of dropping one or two unit when my levels are at the lower levels of my...
