I have so many meters my head spins. however I have decided to go with the codefree as the strips are peanuts comparatively. the codefree reads lower than my glucomen etc. I tend to look for trends rather than an absolute. Well you are breathalyzed at the scene and if a positive test is given they read you your rights and you are arrested and taken to the station where you blow into the much more accurate machine which gives a digital readout. What was the digital readout?

    Type 2 Carbs v Sugars

Your blood sugars are high. The first thing I would do in your situation is limit my carbs per meal to about 20g. this should start to bring your blood sugars down to single figures. If they are not lower after maybe 5 days (usually they will improve immediately) reduce it to 15g etc. you can...

Type 2 Nothing seems to help control my sugars...

I'm guessing that your tolerance for carbohydrates is very low. I would speak with your doctor about doing a short experiment of dropping your carbs to less than 50 per day and adjusting your medication accordingly. you are on various meds so you will need her support. If she refuses to assist...

    Dominating my conversations!!!

lol...........no its not just you but you know that by now. Whilst I am in no doubt that I do bore people with all that is type 2. At least 4 of my workmates have experimented with ketosis and several friends have adopted a permanent low carb diet. Spread the word and keep the faith.

    Saturated Fat

I personally would not worry about saturated fats unless my total cholesterol went above maybe 8 or 9. when I told my doctor this he went a funny shade of purple. At 1 point my TC was 7.5 but it has since dropped to 6.4.

I have to say 18 months back when I went keto I stopped the beers but about 6 months (not exactly sure of the time span) back I brought beer back into my life. I have high blood pressure and my dr wants me to take a statin. HbA1c is 41%.

Once your over 50 the evidence suggests high cholesterol is linked to longer life. I would celebrate your cholesterol and tel the doctor definitely no statins. my TC fluctuates between 6.4 and 7.4 with a HDL of 1.6. I ditched the statins 18 months ago due to memory issues and general aches and...

    Is aspartame safe??

I didn't say anywhere in my post that it was OK. and seeing as it's not OK for you then you would be wise not to drink it. I however like to get rip roaring drunk and sugar free drinks help with that. I also made reference to 'risk averse' suggesting there may be some risk but maybe the subtlety...
