    Encouraging

Well done, excellent results there. I have been given no info at all from my doctors or DN regarding diabetes, not even a leaflet, so all of the knowledge I have gained is from this site, and my sugars are doing well now and I have good control. It isnt easy, but its better than letting this...

    New Type 2

Is it not safe to have even 1 little chocolate a day then? Not even a small one? I didnt think it would be too bad. Not that I eat any, but just wondered. Im not sure I like being diabetic anymore, Id like to make a complaint, anyone know who it should be addressed to?

Thanks Catherine, quite like the idea of waking up to freshly cooked bread, have a timer on my coffee machine too so looks like breakfast will be making itself in future, and on time too :D

    feeling depressed and lonely!!

I moved from Cardiff to Oxford in my 20's cos thats where my partner lived and I found it difficult, but you have to make a new life for yourself and try to settle. It took me a while but I got there. I have also felt down at this time of year previously, Id guess down to lower light levels and...

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Re: Flu jab 2010. If they are saying it seems worse this year, does that mean the strain of swine flu might be mutating? If so, is the vaccine we have had going to protect us keeping in mind they were produced earlier in the year?

    Sweating a lot

When my sugars were a little high I used to sweat badly all of the time, now Im in control it doesnt happen. Also, obviously not everything is down to diabetes, so maybe you have a winter virus on its way?

    Breadmaker.

I appear to be having one for Christmas, can you buy 'mixes' for them that are suitable, ie low carb? Don't really know anything about baking bread, i'm quite interested in using it and want to have what I need here so I can use it straight away. Can anyone help?

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Re: Flu jab 2010. Having had the jab does that mean we are now completely protected? What about partners, should they have it too to ensure they are not able to pass any virus onto us?

    More, erm, y'know

If you are having that type of problem, then definitely ask for the slow release, my stomach wasnt happy at all, then I switched and everything was fine.

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Re: Flu jab 2010. I had a violent throbbing headache the day I had mine, came on about 2/3 hours later, but I was fine the following day and am glad I had it done. I have had the flu before, and I wouldnt wish to have it again.

Should we be taking Aspirin then?

I have just been watching the news, I know a few diabetics take aspirin, but is it something we should all consider? My doctor mentioned putting me on aspirin when I was diagnosed, tho she hasnt mentioned it since  Im not saying we should take it without medical advice, but is it worth...

    Was quite naughty yesterday....

That is something I have thought about recently, how will an off day affect me. Yesterday I ate 7 wine gums, and they were delicious, but thats the 1st sweet I have had since March this year. I have a box of them and I swear I could have eaten the entire box, I just wanted to stuff all of them...

Hello..it has taken me 10 months

Is it giving you an upset stomach? If so you can ask your doctor for the slow release version which is what I was switched over to, for me it hasnt caused any problems at all. Welcome to the site!

Does one ever get out of denial over diabetes?

The cherry ones are amazing, I might eat 1 at Christmas time  I think what keeps me motivated is the scarey stories of what can happen, my dad currently has little feeling in either feet, and he is a prime example of following the wrong advice, so I just try to stick to my safe foods and...

Does one ever get out of denial over diabetes?

Hi there. Im T2 so not in the same situation as you, but once I was diagnosed in March I ignored it and carried on as normal, within 3 months my leg and foot was numb, I have no idea if it was due to the diabetes, but it scared me into doing something about it, and ever since I take meds and...

    Pre-diabetes & 'mild' T2 diabetes?

I was told I was pre-diabetic for quite some time, and given no info on how to prevent me from becoming a full blown diabetic, hence I am now a T2. I wish I would have been given more information back then, because I would have acted on it immediatly and prevented full blown diabetes for as...

The soles of my feet hurt

Hi Mylife. I have almost the exact same problem with my left foot. Came on a few months ago, I saw my Diabetic Dr who said I have an infection in my foot and gave me a cortisone injection which was very painful. This made my foot throb for about a week, and then it eased off. About 3 weeks...
