Terrible hypo due to Lantus or steroids?

Thanks so much! I believe the steroids have played a big part of it too.

Terrible hypo due to Lantus or steroids?

Thanks very much for your fast reply @EllieM . There's no chance i mixed up Lantus with Novorapid. I also experienced such a Lantus low before and am aware of this thread. Just checked my PJs and there's a blood stain on it, injected in the tigh. Such a shame, it's a lost day today.

Terrible hypo due to Lantus or steroids?

I have spent the whole morning trying to get out of a massive hypo after i had injected 18 units of Lantus. Waking levels at 6am were 4.2 and after 30 minutes of being up i took the Lantus. Ten minutes later I was just picking up something from the floor when i noticed i'm feeling dizzy and can...

    Libre 2 alarms

Hi @jonnnewman , I have exactly the same issues! For a few weeks i believed i don't hear the alarm because at the moment i have to take lots of heavy pain medicine but now i had a few hypos and hypers in the daytime without the reader going off! Maybe we should complain to Abbott?

    Long nocturnal hypo

So many thanks @AndBreathe , i will just do that! I wasn't even thinking of doing that but why not? I will try tomorrow morning and let you know if i got through at all. Best wishes to you. :-)

    Long nocturnal hypo

Last night i woke up around 2am sweating a lot and feeling terrible. Libre 2 showed 2.5, test strip even 2.1. Looks like i haven't heard the alarm, maybe because i'm at the moment on a 7.5 mg morphin plaster, Cocodamol, Pregabalin, Amitriptyline and Ramipril. Libre showed nonstop hypo from 9pm...

Are you going to get vaccinated?

Yes indeed! The first two vaccines were Astra Zeneca, had no reaction at all, never had any side effects from the flu/pneumonia jab or any other vaccine before.

Are you going to get vaccinated?

I had my Pfizer booster mid October and was very ill afterwards, couldn't even get out of bed for two days. Still, i'm ever so glad i had it done.

    Booster vaccine

I had my booster last weekend. They gave me Pfizer, first two vaccines were AstraZeneca. No side effects after the first two shots but was terribly ill on the weekend. I felt so cold, had the chills so badly and fever over 39 Celsius. Leaving the sofa was a major effort, usually i try to never...

    Freestyle Libre2

I never had any problems which the previous reader but the Libre 2 reader is not only slow, loses signal often and last night it completely failed to give hypo warnings although i was low for hours. Today it's working normal again. If it happens again i will ask Abbott for a replacement.

Potato cakes (but with celeriac) flour alternatives?

OMG, i now know what's for dinner tonight! That looks absolutely delicious, i just don't really like the grating procedure. :-) i have never used zucchinis (courgettes) instead of potatoes because luckily potatoes don't spike me that much but will try.

    Finally a libre 2!!!

My GP finally changed the prescription and i could collect new Libre 2 sensors today. I have bought a new reader from Abbott and can't wait to get started. My sensor expires in four days, hopefully i get the alarm to work. My phone is an iPhone XR.

I had it ten days ago and it didn't raise my sugar levels at all.

Covid vaccine and T1D, what are your views?

I will have it today! Feeling very grateful and excited. Many people i know already had the vaccine and none of them reported any problems. In 1971 my mother missed the diphteria vaccine for my 18 month old brother. I was nine at the time when what we thought a cold turned really bad very...

    SKIN TAGS AND INSULIN RESISTANCE

Although i'm T1 i had several small skin tags on the neck. I have applied a strong tea tree solution three times a day and they all disappeared and never came back. To prevent them from appearing on my face i'm using a tretinion creme (Obagi), my private dermatologist is prescribing it. My...

UK to privatise health service which could put diabetics at risk of deaths

Scaremongering? Unfortunately NOT. Project fear is now project fact. MP's voted down legal bid to protect the NHS from US/UK deal. There is a reason why NONE of the other 27 EU states even want a referendum, even the right winged countries. They dont want to sacrifice their standard, their...

    Free style Libre arrow

I completely agree with @EllieM , that's the way i do it too. Some people carry a bottle of Lucozade and others gluco tabs. I am using dextro energy tablets although i would much prefer fizzy cola bottles but would eat them before i need them. :)

    Beaten the Virus

Hi @Aknitty , To my astonishment i need far less insulin than usual, completely the opposite from every other virus i ever had. Yesterday i even had two ghastly hypos without taking bolus insulin for my breakfast and lunch! I had to cut down on the basal as well. Very strange.

    Beaten the Virus

Hi @JonBoy1199 , I hope you're feeling a bit better today. You are asking about post viral depression. I am not sure about myself, the whole situation is just so depressing, everybody seems to suffer in some way. To my horror i have just seen there is again blood (little dry speckles) when i...
