    'It's your Diabetes.'

Thanks Sally- no I didn't know that was an option so I will bear it in mind if we need it. x

    'It's your Diabetes.'

Hi Rachox- the consultant that Hubby saw last summer for a liver scan thought that it sounded like shingles so Hubby went back to see his GP. GP said 'that's not a shingles rash and shingles pain follows a particular nerve pathway and doesn't move from place to place.' So he ruled it out but...

Type 2 My reading is 12.9, today seems slashed to be high what is this the to?

That's probably why then. Many diabetics find that combo too high in carbs. Ordinarily that would be a healthy lunch/snack but baked beans ( a 220g can) are around 13% sugar-if you look at the total carb content around 100g of baked beans would be 14g of carb so a whole small can is about 28g...

    Not Seen a Doctor?

I wish ours would do this- we are only allowed to make appointments or order repeat prescriptions online. To get results you have to have a face to face meeting. Seems prehistoric these days.....

    Not Seen a Doctor?

I think it's quite normal for doctors to delegate management of diabetic patients to the nurses...it frees up their time. Like Bulkbiker Hubby manages his T2 with as little contact with practice as possible-aside from blood tests. They insist they are 'here to help' but only if you go by the...

    Question re. potential diabetic complications.

I would definitely get it checked out, symptoms that come and go can be frustrating and might be an indicator of something or might be nothing at all. Hubby has been dealing with moving nerve pain and strange sensations for nearly a year and we are no closer to finding out what it is....just a...

    'It's your Diabetes.'

Hi Everyone, I accompanied Hubby to the Doctors yesterday. He hadn't gone about his diabetes but it's funny how that's all we ended up talking about ! Hubby's diabetes was discovered last June whilst running blood tests to try and establish the cause of a virus which had inflamed his liver. It...

Type 2 My reading is 12.9, today seems slashed to be high what is this the to?

Have you eaten anything high in carbs ? Blood sugar can spike for many reasons- you may have a virus if you are feeling unwell.

    Peripheral Neuropathy

I've found this thread really interesting. Definitely go to your GP and get it checked out and if you are not satisfied/there is no improvement or change then press to see a neurologist. Hubby was diagnosed T2 last June with an initial HbA1C of (I think) around 12 or 14. He has since reduced...

How long for Metformin to show the effects

Hello, I'm a member here because my Hubby was diagnosed with T2 diabetes last summer. As he doesn't use social media and forums and such, I joined up to ask for advice and help on his behalf. I have to say that the folk here have been an invaluable source of support :) I'm currently studying...

    Progress!

Hi Everyone, Not been on the forum for a while because of one thing and another but just wanted to share Hubby's latest progress. He was very controlled over Christmas only allowing himself a few 'illegal treats'. Carried on with the LCHF diet and has lost another half a stone since the new...

Causal relationship between insulin resistance and vit D deficiency ?

That's very interesting. Hubby is awaiting blood test results to see what his levels of Vit D are( probably be after Xmas now as surgery is closed) He has been experiencing a lot of nerve/muscle pain, not your typical areas for diabetic neuropathy. He takes a daily supplement of 1000 iu but I...

    Blood levels to high?

Most people are probably at their highest before breakfast (whether diabetic or not) due to the 'dawn phenomenon' where your liver dumps glucose into the bloodstream to get you ready for the day ahead. More important to test yourself before and two hours after eating to see how your body is...

    Sleep affects bs

Dawn phenomena ?(liver dumps glucose into the bloodstream to help you wake up and prepare for the day ahead) - do you take meds for the fibromyalgia as that might be affecting your morning readings ?

Lowering blood glucose and pain ?

Morning everyone, Wondered if I could tap into your cumulative wisdom ? Hubby went to the GP the other week about his ongoing pain, the reason he first went to the doctor 6 months ago. The GP was full of praise for how well he is doing managing his diabetes and said that it was unusual for...
