    Daily Carb Counts - Curious

    Daily Carb Counts - Curious

I'll have to try to cut back on some fruits as I must be getting a lot of carbs from them that are filling up my day. Such a shame sweetcorn is so high as well because I love it.

    Pump or injections

I'd say it's worth a go if you feel it's come to the point where your control needs tightening up. Do you carb count? I would obviously recommend getting on a course for that as they won't let you have a pump if you can't carb count first. I was on injections for 12 years until I went on a...

Yes I have read quite a lot of posts from you, you've taught me a lot. Do you boil the cauliflower first or just grate it and eat raw? I like goats cheese, never tried it in a salad though, might give it a try.

    Daily Carb Counts - Curious

I everyone, I’m a type 1 been using an insulin pump for the last 4 years with semi decent control, however as a few of you will know, I’ve been trying a low(er) carb diet than what I’m used to. I used to consume about 250-300g per day whereas now I seem to be around 74-124 per day (depends if...

    Diabetes Pump

what basal rates are you running at the moment? I would be inclined to reduce your basal 30-40% to see if that helps for a while. Another option is to check your insulin to carb ratio's are correct. Are you on a 1 unit per 10g carb? Sometimes my hypos are caused by this change and I often alter...

    Coeliac Disease

Re: Celiac Disease Hi, I've had coeliac disease for 10 years. These days the selection is amazing compared to when I was diagnosed. Go and visit the free from section in Tesco and Sainsbury's - they have an amazing selection. I prefer Tesco for a lot of gluten free foods. Asda are pretty good...

    Constant hypo's

Yes basal testing is very important. I'd been on a pump for 4 years too before I'd even heard about it. My dsn never even mentioned it. The only way I found out about it was through the book 'Think Like A Pancreas' since I've done all the tests though I'm pretty stable, needs tweeking a bit more...

    Low-carbing

Same I'm a type 1 low carbing, managed to reduce my HBA1c from the mid - high 7's right down to 6.7% (at the lowest). I've still a long way to go though as having a few hypos but it's definitely changed my life :D

Lowered my HBA1C within 2 months, Yay!!!

    Basal Rates

I tend to keep my carb ratio's the same unless I've not been to the gym for a few days and then I need to change them slightly to cover more insulin with food. I'll always usually start with the basal's though if I'm changing anything. I've just increased my basal by 0.25 and have had a constant...
