    Losing the will

Any reason for the really low amount of calls? Generally speaking i find a small daily calorie deficit will have better results in the long run. Also when eating too little for too long your body tends to go into starvation mode lowering your metabolism and probably will even go into fat storing...

Work today and the last couple of days generally ... nothing get's done properly and before i can finish job A i have to start job B,C,D,E, ... and then i get complaints that job A isn't finished along with the rest. Odd highs without change in diet or insulin

Just an update but my insulin needs are dropping again. Dropped the basal 1, 2 and 3 in that order, and still flirting with lows 70-80 md/dl highest was 172 but that was after 0.5 L cola (kinda stupid i didn't take my BG before drinking the cola but was in a rush). Guess i'll stay with the...

Odd highs without change in diet or insulin

Might give my upper legs another shot as an injection site though i generally find it a painful place to place my insulin. Ab region is the least painful since i still have a little bodyfat there. Already on 3mm needles since the longer ones bruise the hell out of me.

Odd highs without change in diet or insulin

I've had my basal needs changed too over the years usually happens during warmer/colder periods but never did i have to double my intake in a single week. Usually the adjustments are 1-2 units and never suddenly double. Injection sites i switch daily though all of them are on the belly region...

Odd highs without change in diet or insulin

Hello, Lately i've been experiencing highs (250 mg/dl - 440mg/dl) without any change in diet, insulin or exercise regime. I've went to the hospital last week to talk to my endocrinologist and she suggested i start taking Toujeo instead of Lantus. This has helped a bit especially with my morning...

    Type 1 diabetes

Well insulin is an anabolic substance though it's technically not a steroid nor does it contain any. To be more specific insulin is a peptide hormone. However some (non diabetic) athletes do take insulin and it's also on the illegal substances list for said athletes. Because of this i guess...

    Restart at the gym, Type1.

There is a bit of a trial and error (for lack of better expression) period when going back to the gym with diabetes. A good practice is to measure before and after for a couple of weeks so you know how it effects you personally. Eventually you'll be able to find the perfect timing to when you...

Type 1s: What stupid things have people said to you?

Someone once asked me if had the same type as her aunt, it wouldn't be so stupid if her aunt hadn't pregnancy diabetes and me being male. I think i said something down the lines of "yes, but i'll be cured as soon as i have an abortion."

    High bloods first thing Type1.

I have it too, no matter how good my levels are before bed time i very often wake up high (+200 mg/dl). Generally eating low carb does seem to lower it to better or even perfect results. I even checked it a few times around 4-5 am and my BG was still in the green, hour of two later they shot up...

    Life Expectancy

http://www.diabetesselfmanagement.com/blog/worlds-longest-living-person-with-type-1/ I would sign up for a life expectancy of 84 :) I know what you mean though, i think it was in supersize me that they said if you get diabetes before the age of 15 your life expectancy is cut by a quarter. It...

    How to gain weight?

Like TorqPenderloin said avoid weight gainers as they contain tons of carbs. When i bulk i eat nuts, they're higher in kcals and lower in carbs. Aldi (in Belgium at least) has a nut mix of about 300 grams for 3.50 euros. It's about 650 kcals/100 grams and 15 grams of carbs. In general pine nuts...

    Bodybuilding and diabetes

Doug Burns is a type 1 that is or was (don't really follow it) Mr. Universe. For me it would be safe for you to workout when you have your BG under control. Generally speaking working out when your BG is too high isn't advised (like +250 Mg/Dl), too low is obviously a bad idea too. When you...

High Intensity Interval Training to improve blood glucose levels

It's not abnormal to lose some muscle if you're dropping in bodyweight though you might consider you're losing weight too fast. Generally speaking lost muscle can be regained faster than just growing it through a thing which is known as muscle memory. It either has something to do with the...

    Gym bunnies with type 1.

Going to the gym will not make you healthy by default though generally considered any form of exercise is better than none. About the insulin spiking: Insulin is basically an anabolic hormone. Meaning that insulin will aid in the development of muscle. Your muscle cells have insulin receptors...

    Accu Chek Mobile

I have it right now and also have problems with test errors, sometimes i have to throw away cassettes because of it. It seems to be extremely sensitive to dirt or any substance on your fingers. So as it stand it seems to be about as portable as my sink.

High Intensity Interval Training to improve blood glucose levels

That is very unfortunate indeed, still very strong lifts there. I know how you feel, i herniated my L5/S1 and L5/L4 discs and coincidently my best squat was also when i was 17 but only 400 lbs at 145 lbs bodyweight. Can't seem to squat anymore, when i try i get an uncomfortable feeling in the...
