    Diagnosed in Japan

Doc asked me if I had any hypo symptoms to which I replied in the negative. Either they don't think so or....idk. Does seems a bit cavalier. Am investigating the possibility of a Freestyle subsidised by the Govt, since that was suggested earlier.

The latter. Totally low carb now. Dropped about 6kg in the month between diagnosis and now. Next visit in May.

    Diagnosed in Japan

It's weird, they keep telling me that 'economic reasons' are why I can't have a monitoring system such as the Freestyle. I wonder if it was approved but subsequently withdrawn, or perhaps it has to do with the hospital. I am part of the National Health system here, just pay a tiny bit for each...

    Diagnosed in Japan

Latest visit to the hospital revealed some good news The figures on the right are what is considered to be normal. substantially down from a month ago (14% iirc). Doc has reduced insulin to 6 units from 8. Continuing Metformin, plus I had an eye test - apparently the (what she called) eye...

That's a pretty cool idea. (Groan). But seriously. Summer usually up to 40c.

If you live in a country which is prone to natural disasters...

...then where do you keep your supplies?Specifically insulin, as it is supposed to be stored at 2-8 degrees C. Where I live, earthquakes are fairly common but in 2 decades nothing has caused any damage to the house. However, best to be on the safe side, right? If it didn’t require cold storage...

    My girlfiend

So I've been seeing this girl for a few months, we have a kind of flirty, but platonic relationship. She said to me one day 'hey you know, we've been dating for a while. Why haven't you tried to get into my knickers yet?' 'Well I didn't think there would be room for both of us'

How many of you use a road id?

I had to look up that symbol! I wonder if a ‘red cross’ symbol would be more universally recognised? One of the cycling forums threw up a comment that his bracelet pointed to a web address.

Do speedwalkers look at a car and think ‘why am I wasting my life?’

How many of you use a road id?

Likely I would have to get it bilingual. I’m also slightly concerned about privacy, like the next-of-kin being on display to all and sundry. Are any designs covering the info without being counterproductive?

Smart watches any good for hypo alert!

The Samsung Galaxy 4 or Active 3 is purported to have an IR sensor type measuring device for BG. Likewise the next Apple offering (7 I think). Neither released yet but might be before June for the Samsung. Even if it’s only 75% as accurate as a cgm type unit, I’m in like Flynn. Honestly I’ve...

    Vending machine fare

Alongside the various coffees and teas, just got this out of a machine. It is the sweetened variety, but it probably won’t kill me. Famous last words
