Thanks all Ken, I dont think it is coding as I have a contour usb and it says NO CODING. I think it is callibrating, but do I have to do this EVERY TIME I open new pack of strips or just every once in a while?

Just a quick, stupid question :oops: When I was in hosp recently, one of the nurses said I need to callibrate my meter every time I use a new packet of strips. Ive never done this. What is callibration, how do I do it and is it really important? Thanks An embarassed Paula

How do people here cope with diabetes when vomiting? I have recurrent vomiting and, dont worry, it is being investigated. But how do people, especiaaly those on insulin, cope when not able to eat? Paula

Thanks Ken. He hasnt put me off!! Ive learnt so much more on this site in a few months than I have in the 2 years ive been diabetic. You've all been wonderful :D

Please dont worry. I didnt take him seriously. Of coursr I will take steroids again if needed - only if definately needed tho. I saw my DSN today. Despite all my extremely high Bs my hba1c only went up to 8.2. Re offensive comment - this is the 2nd one. I do seem to get them dont I? :) Paula

Hi everyone and Happy new year! Well, I ended up in hosp Christmas night and got out on wed. Bs only got back to normal today. Boy was I glad to see a 5.2! :D Still feeling pretty rough and very tired but getting there. If I definitely have to go on steroids again, I will, But gonna try avoid...

UPDATE They have put me back on the steroids and antibiotics for another week. Great! Another week of feeling c**p and lousy bs control. Oh well, c'est la vie! Paula

Hi moonstone Yes had the vaccine a few years ago, although it hasnt stopped me being in itu a while ago. They said I had a 10% chance of survival, but did survive so maybe it worked. I have brittle asthma so am always getting chest infections. Off to the drs today to see how Im doing. Paula
